Back to Viking Fleet Fishing Reports

Sun July 5

Half Day AM
Captain Stephen Francis reports a bit of a slow morning aboard the Viking Stariper. We had an east wind with a funny tide, and even though we moved around a bit, it was tough fishing. We did manage a handful of keepers. Today’s pool winner was Frank Cetro of West Islip with a 3.5lb fluke.

Half Day PM
Captain Stephen Francis reports a better afternoon of fluke fishing than this morning. It was a bit windy, but we were able to retreat to calmer waters and we had good action with a bunch of keeper fluke with some porgies in the mix. Today’s pool winner was Mikey J with a nice 6.5lb fluke.

Montauk Jumbo Porgies
Captain Dave reports an excellent day of porgy fishing today aboard the Viking Starship. We had all nice BIG fish today, with a mix of blues and fluke. Today’s pool winner was Qicai Yang AKA BenĀ from Bayside, NY with a 3lb porgy.

Night Striped Bass
Captain Carl reports yet another BANNER night of fishing! We celebrated the 4th of July the Viking way…..with stars in the sky and stripes on deck! When we first arrived we had an awesome show of giant striped bass beating up on some bunker schools right next to the boat, all 30-50 pounds! We jigged up a bunch, then switched to eels and had steady awesome fishing until we reached our limit! We also had a great fireworks show while slamming Moo Cow Bass! It was EPIC! Chris Luke took the pool with a 38lb 140z slob!
