Christmas Cod Special
Captain Carl reports an excellent Christmas Cod trip on the Viking Star today. We had steady solid action all day with market size cod and a lot of shorts as well to keep the action fun, along with some sea bass and cunners too. Bait worked best for most of the day, and we had a pretty awesome afternoon jig bite as well. The Wreck Fish Mafia boys all held their cappo status with size and numbers! WFM member Theo Zmach, of Oceanside, NY took the pool, again, with a 19 lb cod, and Saso Tsiatis of Elmont, NY took second with a 17 pounder. Daniel Stanislawski of Lindenhurst had high hook with 26 keepers (ORL), and Marty Wellen Dowd had 19 (ORL), so they must have been thick! Ronnie and Bruce teamed up for 31 keepers (ORL), and everyone onboard had fat sacks of filet to take home. It was a great day fishing. Starting Jan 2, we will be sailing DAILY onboard the 140ft Viking Starship “the Queen of the Fleet” See you then!

Montauk Jumbo Porgies and Sea Bass
Captain Dave reports a slow day due to the east wind and full moon tide. We still managed a decent catch and everyone had a few porgies, some sea bass and the boat had about 25 keeper cod. Today’s first and second place pool winner was Doug So of Philadelphia with a 3.2lb porgy and a 14lb cod.
