Night Striped Bass
Capt Dave reports a very slow night of bass fishing on the Viking Starship. We had wind against tide and did not move at the beginning of the trip. We then had a long slack and by the time it got moving it was time to come home. We caught one bluefish.

Viking FiveStar Block Island Cod/ Sea Bass/ Blackfish Charter
We had another excellent day on the Block Island grounds today! The cod were chewing on the first drop and we filled a deck box of nice fish in the first half hour of fishing. We made one other cod drop and had a good steady pick of cod for over an hour. By the end of the day we ended up with 61 nice cod. From there we went inshore and tried for some black fish in the shallower water, but it seems like it’s still too early for them to start biting. We had a hand full of shorts and got only 4 keepers out of it along with a bunch of xl seabass. The cod fishing has been real good and we have only hit a couple drops this year and all of them have produced well. Keep an eye on the website as we may add a couple open boat cod trips this month on some open dates where the weather allows. We also have dates open for charter, so call the office for availability.

Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies and Knothead Sea Bass
Captain Dave reports a not so great day of fishing today. We had nothing but small fish, with lots of throwbacks and lots of dogfish around today to bother us. We did have about a dozen cod but it was a tough day of fishing. Today’s first place pool winner was Dan Chaoyaong of Plainview with a 2lb porgy and in second place was Bob Valentine of Long Valley with a 20lb cod.

Half Day Mixed Bag
Captain Sarah reports an absolutely beautiful morning aboard the Viking Stariper. We had plenty of sea bass action with some nice keepers mixed in. We also put on some decent size porgies. Great day to spend catching fish! Today’s pool winner was Wendt’s and Grant’s of Oceanside, NY with a 4.2lb sea bass.
