Montauk Jumbo Summer Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass Captain Dave reports a steady day of fishing aboard the Viking Starship. There was plenty of action but it was mostly smaller sized fish. Fishing could’ve been better but we had to hide from the weather today. The pool winner was Leou Bangari from the Bronx with a 2.75lb scup.

1/2 Day Fluke AM Capt Dave G Reports an OK morning of fishing aboard the Viking Star. We had rainy breezy conditions but still managed to put a catch together. We had some nice fluke in the mix. The pool winner was Elizabeth Kneeter from Brooklyn NY with a big 6.55lb fluke!

Night Striped Bass Capt Carl reports a very tough night on the Viking Starship. Between the thunder, lightning, and stiff NE winds, drifting conditions were very poor and it led to poor fishing. We only landed a couple Bass, lost a couple, and threw back a couple little ones. Greg Marchese from Chicago, IL took the pool with a 31 pound Striped Bass.

Thur July 13

1/2 Day Fluke PM Capt Dave G reports a slower afternoon of fishing in more difficult conditions. We started with slack tide and picked a few fluke. Then the breeze picked up when the tide started, but made for difficult drifting. Still we managed to put together a decent catch of fluke. The pool winners were Gary Bercarich from Smithtown NY in first place with a 5.75lb Fluke and in second place was Christine Dassler from Bohemia NY with a 5.55lb Fluke.

Montauk Jumbo Summer Porgies & Knot Head Sea Bass Captain Dave reports a great day of fishing aboard the Viking Starship. We found a nice new spot with plenty of big fish and spent the morning picking away at mostly large and jumbo porgies. After the tide ran hard we moved and went looking for sea bass. Sea bass fishing was very good too there was plenty of them there with a few porgies and keeper fluke mixed in too. We had a nice 7lb fluke and a 5lb sea bass. The pool winner today was William Duncan from Brooklyn with a nice 3.2lb porgy.
