Viking Fleet Fishing Reports

Sun July 26- 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt JR Gibson reports an action packed trip this morning on the Viking Star. Rods were bending from start to finish. Everyone has plenty of meat for dinner!! Porgies, Sea Bass, and some Fluke. The pool winner was Tom Casse from Warwick, NY with a 4.25 lb Fluke.  

Sat July 25 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt Stephen D reports a good afternoon on the Viking Star. We had a lot of action with Fluke, SeaBass and Porgies. We had a handful of short Fluke and a couple of keepers. The winner of both pools was Martin Wellen Dowd from Yoorkville, NYC with a 4.8 lb Fluke and a 4.6 lb SeaBass. Honorable Mention goes to Johnny “Smokes” with a nice Fluke.

Sat July 25- Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass – Viking Starlite LTD Passenger

Capt Stephen D reports an awesome day on the Viking Starlite. It was a total Bail Job on Large to X-Large Porgies at the lighthouse. After the coolers were full we went east to deep water where we picked away at SeaBass up to 4 lbs until everyone had their limits. The pool winner was William Brown from South Ozone Park, NY with a 2.75 lb Porgy.

Sat July 25- Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt. Dave reports a fantastic day of fishing. We had great fishing by the lighthouse and caught plenty of 5 lb Seabass. We decided to go offshore and caught nice quality Porgies all within the 3-4 lb range. Everyone caught their limits and went home happy. The first place pool winner was Erin Oliver from Strasbourg, PA, with a 3lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Tyrone Brock SR. from Bronx, NY, with a 5 lb Fluke.

Sat July 25- 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt Dave G reports a very good morning of fishing aboard the Viking Star. We had big sea bass, big porgies and plenty of fluke, including some nice keepers. We are starting to see more Fluke, but here are still a lot of shorts in the mix. The first pool winner was Daniel Lee from Flushing, NY with a 4 lb Seabass. The second place pool winner was Martin Dowd from Manhattan, NY with a 3 lb Fluke.

Fri July 24- 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt Dave G reports a good afternoon of fishing aboard the Viking Star. Fishing was a bit slow in the middle of the trip on the change of tide, but we caught plenty of Porgies early in the trip and Jumbo Sea Bass late in the trip. Overall it was a good afternoon. The first place pool winner was 8 year old Liam Nagle from Mahopac, NY with a 4.5 lb Fluke. The edible pool winner was Chris Cartisano from S. Huntington, NY with  4.25 lb Sea Bass

Fri July 24- Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a fantastic day of fishing. We started off by the Lighthouse where we got tons of Porgies. While there we had some nice long drifts, and great conditions. By the time we were done there everyone had their fair share of Porgies. We decided to go Seabassing over by Block Island. We caught beautiful Seabass. We had to pick through a bit, but it was about quality and not quantity. Overall we had a great day of steady fishing and everyone went home happy. The pool winner was Santos Cruz from Roosevelt, NY with a 4 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Michael Bolton from Brentwood, NY with a 6lb Fluke.

July 24- 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt Dave G reports a very good morning of fishing aboard the Viking Star. We loaded up on Sea Bass and Porgies, with plenty of Fluke and a Striped Bass in the mix. Most of the Fluke remain short, although we did have a couple of keepers. The first place pool winner was Lee Marigliano from South Kortright, NY with a 4.75 lb Fluke. The edible pool winner is Steven Klugeur from Holtsville, NY with a 4.5 lb Sea Bass.

Thurs July 23 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt Dave G reports a good afternoon of fishing aboard the Viking Star. We had a slow start with windy and poor drifting conditions. After the wind dropped out, the bite improved. We ended up with a nice catch of some really nice Sea Bass and Porgies. The first place pool winner was Talia Sperandio from NYC with a 3 lb Fluke. The edible pool winner was Bill Tart from Holtsville, NY with a 4.5 lb SeaBass.

Thurs July 23 – Porpoises Spotted

This morning on the 1/2 Day fishing trip we got lucky and spotted a bunch of porpoises. If you are interested in seeing porpoises, dolphins, whales and other marine life join us on one of our Whale Watching Trips. We have been sighting them close to shore!! The trips run on Saturdays through September 5th from 2pm to 7pm. $75 for 13 and over. $50 for 5 to 12 year olds. 4 and under are free. Please call 631-668-5700 or book online at vikingfleet.com

Thurs July 23 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt Dave G reports a very good morning of fishing aboard the Viking Star. We had fast drifting conditions so we covered a lot of ground. We ended up with a great catch of jumbo Porgies and nice sized Sea Bass. We caught a few Fluke also but no keepers. The pool winner was Lauren Irving from Holbrook, NY with a 4 lb SeaBass.

Thurs July 23 – 3 Day Captain’s Choice – Viking Fivestar

Capt Steven Jr reports another epic offshore trip on the Viking Fivestar!! Our 3 day trip was drastically shortened, we only needed 12 hours of fishing to fill the boat up with 14 Big Eyes and 32 Yellow Fin!!! An absolutely epic trip for a great group of guys.
