Viking Fleet Fishing Reports

Capt Dave reports excellent fishing today on the Viking Superstar. The SeaBass fishing today was some of the best it has been all year, the bite was non-stop with SeaBass up to 6 lbs. The SeaBass were biting their heads off today to the point where it made it difficult to pick through to catch the Porgies. Nonetheless we had a good amount of Porgies and easily our limit with the SeaBass along with 3-4 Cod on the boat. We did not do a pool on the boat today. We are cancelled tomorrow due to gale force winds, but we will be sailing again on Sunday, December 4th at 5am.

Capt Dave reports an excellent day of fishing today on the Viking Star. Despite the rainy conditions today we sailed with a light crowd and had ourselves some excellent fishing. We had a mix of sizes, from just keeper Porgies and SeaBass to jumbo sized and everywhere in between. We had some nice sized SeaBass up to 5 lbs on the boat along with at 10 Cod fish, even with the small number of people. We did also find some Mackerell still around and only a few dog fish biting, Overall a really great day of fishing. The Porgy pool winner went to Tony Kim from Queens, NY with a 3.9 lb Porgy. Unfortunately, our 5am Block Island Porgy and SeaBass trip tomorrow (Thursday, December 1st) is cancelled along with our Coxes Ledge Cod and SeaBass trip due to poor…

Capt Dave reports a good day on the Viking Star. It was a good mix of Porgies and plenty of nice size Sea Bass. The Mackerel are still around along with a handful of dogs, but they weren’t that bad. There were also about a 1/2 dozen keeper Cod. The pool winner was Fred Smith from Brooklyn, NY with a 3 lb Porgy. We are definitely a go tomorrow on the Viking Star for Porgies & Sea Bass. The winner of both pools today was Mark LaPointe from Baiting Hallow, NY with a 7.7 lb Blackfish and a 3.2 lb Sea Bass.

Capt JR reports this morning’s trip on the Viking Star was very good. We hit the Sea Bass grounds first thing in the morning and found some excellent excellent fishing. Big beautiful double header Sea Bass from stem to stern. Everyone easily had their limit before we headed inshore to the Tog areas. We had a good pick of fish all afternoon with a few beauties coming up. Action all around the boat with several guys getting their limit of nice Togs. Most of our Porgies were caught in the shallow water with mixed sizes from mediums to jumbos. There were also a handful of Cod. On the Porgy drop we found good sizes from larges to jumbo with some Sea Bass mixed in. The last drop had mixed size Sea Bass and some Porgies. Everywhere we tried was good. Lots of big giant knot head Sea Bass coming over the rails for an easy limit. We headed inshore and found a MUCH improved Blackfish bite. The cooler weather has finally started getting the big togs chewing. We had an easy boat limit with some real beauties coming over the rail until we headed home. There was no pool today.
