Sat Oct 19 – 1/2 Day Jigging
Captain Carl reports an absolute BAIL JOB on our morning 1/2 Day Jigging trip! There were acres and acres of Striped Bass off Montauk this morning and we easily limited out on Slot Size Striped Bass! We also released tons of oversized fish as well! Great fun was had by all! The first prize pool…
Fri Oct 18 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports a tough day of fishing on the Viking Starship today. This mornings swell with the full moon tide made more difficult fishing conditions for our first few hours. The fish were definitely there and biting, but it was hard to get on them. Once the tide eased down midway through the trip we got a good shot in of mixed sized Porgies and SeaBass. Nothing too large or jumbo in either category, but we managed to get a nice fill to everyone’s coolers. The first prize pool winner today went to Cesar Guzman from Philadelphia, PA with a 2. 7 lb Porgy. We will be sailing again tomorrow for our Block Island Porgies and SeaBass at 5am on the Viking Starship, our check-in office will be open at 4am.
Thurs Oct 17 – Full Moon Striped Bass
Captain Carl reports a RED HOT night aboard the Viking Starship on our Hunters Moon Bass Bonanza! We didn’t have to do much hunting. There are literally miles and miles of Striped Bass in Montauk right now! The Fall Run is in FULL SWING! We had an easy limit of slot sized Bass, and released…
Thurs Oct 17 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports a decent day of fishing on the Viking STARSHIP. With the strong tides roaring from the Hunter’s Full Moon, we started our morning offshore in the deeper water and got onto a decent pile of SeaBass. Unfortunately, we didn’t see much Porgy action out here, but we pick away at some nice SeaBass till the tide eased up a bit and we got to head back into the shallows. Once we get settled back closer to the island we got into some mixed sized Porgies, mostly medium, nothing to large, but a couple decent fish in there. Overall, it was a decent day, but the tide kept us out of the areas we really wanted to be in. The first prize pool winner went to Juan Marroquin from Freeport, NY with a 2.1 lb Porgy. The edible…

Wed Oct 16 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports a difficult day on the Viking Superstar. It was a good first drop, but it didn’t last as long as usual. The Porgies were there and there were a lot of little Sea Bass. The full moon tide began raging, so we moved around trying a few spots. Conditions were pretty rough and we had to hide, so fishing wasn’t as great as it has been. The pool winner was MD Islam from Philadelphia, PA with a 2 lb Porgy. We are excited to announce that we will be sailing on the 144′ Viking Starship tomorrow!!
Mon Oct 14 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports excellent fishing today on the Viking Star. We hugged close up to the island first thing this morning and had some great action with medium to jumbo Porgies keeping rods bent all day. We had a bit of a ground swell throughout the day, but it didn’t seem to affect the bite. Everyone seemed to have a nice handful of keeper SeaBass, which keeps improving each day with the quality. We also had one nice Trigger fish on the boat. The first prize pool winner went to Santo Guzman with a 3 lb Porgy. We are CANCELLED for tomorrow’s Block Island Porgy and SeaBass (Tuesday, October 15th).
Sun Oct 13 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports a very good day of fishing today on the Viking Star. Block Island Porgy fishing was certainly back today, we got in close to the island first thing this morning and dropped anchor for almost 3 hours. We picked away at some really nice medium and large sized porgies pretty much non-stop…
Sat Oct 12 – Night Squid Jigging
Captain Justin reports another slow yet steady night of jigging on the Viking Starlite. Our night began strong out in the deeper waters with a lot more action early on. But, as the evening progressed, schools of Bluefish arrived, which seemed to have startled the Squid to finish off the night with a slow pick….
Sat Oct 12 – 1/2 Day Fishing
Capt JR reports a slower day with the windy conditions. In the morning we had a charter and had some Porgies and Sea Bass. This afternoon was a slow pick only turning up some keeper Sea Bass. There was no pool this afternoon. We will be sailing Sunday and Monday at 8AM & 1PM. These will be the last 1/2 Day Fishing trips for the season.
Sat Oct 12 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports another tough day of fishing on the Viking Star. The conditions today were pretty similar today as they were yesterday so we started our morning tucked in close to the island to try to stay out of the wind and had a decent pick to start. It was mostly little SeaBass in there, but there were some nice sized Porgies and a few keeper SeaBass mixed in. When the tide started running hard we made a move offshore and pretty much just had a slow pick for the remainder of the trip. The pool winner today went to Milton Bardales from the Bronx with a 2 1/2 lb Porgy. We are definitely sailing again tomorrow at 5am on the Viking Star for our Block Island Porgies and SeaBass, space is filling up, so make sure to book…
Fri Oct 11 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports a pretty tough day of fishing today on the Viking Star. Our first drop this morning was our best shot as we hugged close to island and had a good pick of both Porgies and SeaBass. Unfortunately, after a short while, the tide started running hard and we made a move offshore…
