Capt Mike reports a good afternoon on the Viking Star. We had steady catching all afternoon. Several nice Fluke were caught. There was a great porgy bite and we boated some nice Sea Bass. The pool winner was Nicholas Mapes from Wantaugh, NY with a 4 lb Fluke.  

Capt Mike reports pretty decent fishing this morning on the Viking Star. We had a nice mixed bag of many keeper Fluke, plenty of Porgies and a lot of Sea Bass. There were many smaller Sea Bass, but we managed some nice keepers. Plenty of action for all of kids we had on board today….

Capt Dave reports a fantastic day of fishing on the Viking Starship. Fishing today was “stupendous” with large fish all around. We started the morning with a 2-hour drift loading up with large and jumbo Porgies, with very little throw backs. We then worked our way towards Block Island where SeaBass fishing was excellent as well! The Seabass today were much larger than we have been seeing with fish up to 4 lbs. In that deeper water we did see a selection of more Porgies, Mackerell and about a dozen keeper Fluke. Overall an excellent day for fishing. The first place pool winner today went to Noli Reyes from Brooklyn with a 3 lb Porgy.

Capt J.R. reports a good pick of fish this afternoon on the Viking Star.. It wasn’t as fast and furious as this morning’s trip, but we definitely had a productive venture. Towards the end of the trip we fished a new area and topped off the catch of porgies and sea bass with some nice KEEPER fluke. Definitely fish dinner for all! The first place pool winner this afternoon went to Eric Homeyer from Kings Park, NY with a 4.2 lb Fluke.

Expectations Exceeded! After Wednesday’s incredible encounters and a weather-cancelled trip on Sunday, we headed offshore with high hopes that the whales observed last week would still be around for today’s cruise. Capt Dave reports an excellent day of fishing today on the Viking Starship. Porgy fishing was red hot this morning, we sat on the anchor for about 2 1/2 – 3 hours with non-stop action, double headers left and right. Porgy size was pretty decent today with medium to jumbo fish in the mix. We then worked our way offshore and found ourselves in a nice pile of SeaBass, but they were definitely running on the smaller size today, with more throwbacks than keepers, but most anglers seemed to have a couple. We did not have a pool on the boat today and will be sailing again tomorrow (Friday, July 21st) on our 5am Montauk Lighthouse Porgies & SeaBass.
