Viking Fleet Fishing Reports

Montauk

Wed July 23 – New Moon Striped Bass

Capt Carl reports a very slow night Bass fishing. We marked some fish but it seems they had lock jaw all night making it a very disappointing outing. We are going to try again Friday night and hope for better results!

Sun July 20 – Whale Watching

Sunday, July 20, 2025 It was absolute cetacean heaven at sea yesterday! We headed offshore, pausing only briefly to investigate some nearshore splashes and visible leaps, likely belonging to tuna and/or other large, predatory fish. Our transit was speckled with pelagic bird sightings, at times by the hundreds, before we encountered our first whale, a…

Mon July 21 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt Dave G reports a good afternoon of fishing aboard the Viking Star. We started the afternoon trip catching nice sized porgies right at Montauk Lighthouse. Then the tide started to pick up so we moved to some different spots and caught nice sized sea bass. All in all it was a good trip. We also had bluefish and some keeper fluke.
