Tue Aug 18 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports good fishing on the Viking Starship. We had great fishing on the early tide by the lighthouse with mostly large Porgies, but slack tide was picky. About 1/2 way to Block Island we tried Sea Bass fishing and had some keepers with a lot of small fish. It was nice Porgy fishing there with the biggest Porgies we had. The first place pool winner was Wazim Shaw from Queens, NYC with a 2.8 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Yoon Kim from Bayside, NY with a 3.8 lb Sea Bass.

Mon Aug 17 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies and Knothead Seabass
Capt. Dave reports a very very good day of fishing. We had a nice steady pick of Porgies, Seabass, and a couple Bluefish. It was a very consistent day with a good haul to bring home. The pool winner was Julio Lopez from Brentwood, NY, with a 2.8 lb Porgy.
Mon Aug 17 – 1/2 Day Fishing Charter
This morning we hosted our annual charter for the Charlie & Sons group and everyone had a blast! The weather wasn’t the greatest, but we were able to fish some local honey holes in calm seas and were rewarded with Keeper Flukes, Sea Bass, and Porgies! It was another success and we thank you all at Charlie & Sons for another great trip! Enjoy the fish!
Sun Aug 16 – Whale Watching
More Minke Mania and Calf Capers! Our trip today took us approximately 12 miles southeast of Montauk under clear skies and calm seas. As we approached our destination, we could see a breaching humpback from over a mile away, and knew we were in for something special. The breaching continued as we neared the young whale, a 2026 calf of a whale named Zeppelin (MTK0241), who was seen off Montauk during 2024 and was also encountered aboard yesterday’s trip. The calf alternated between breaching, flipper-slapping, lobtailing, and tail- throwing to the delight of passengers. Knowing that these behaviors are used by humpbacks to communicate with each other, and realizing that this young whale was a calf, it was no surprise when mom showed up, and the two swam side-by-side and dove in tandem. Sun Aug 16 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM
Capt. Jr reports a very good day of fishing aboard the 1/2 Day this afternoon. We had plenty of keeper Fluke coming over the rails and filling fillet bags. It was a nice mixed bag of Fluke, Porgies, and Seabass. The pool winner was Michael Attianese with a 3.5 lb Fluke.
