Capt. Steven Sr. reports a great and active fishing this morning. People were able to catch many Fluke, Seabass, and Porgies with  a mix of sizes. Everyone went home happy with their buckets full for their dinner tonight. Congratulations to our pool winner Archie Yemula from Basking Ridge, NJ with a 6 lb Fluke.

Captain Mike Ricker reports an afternoon full of action! We had plenty of nice-sized keeper Sea Bass and Porgies in our buckets. We also had some fun Fluke action. It was a beautiful afternoon on the water. Congratulations to our pool winner, Steven Truncale, who caught a 4 lb Fluke.

Sat July 19 – Montauk Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports very good fishing on the Viking Starship. We drilled out the Porgies at the lighthouse today with the large crowd. We also had a couple of Sea Bass, Fluke and Bluefish in the catch. The winner of both pools was Tyron Alridge from Brooklyn, NY with a 4 lb Porgy and a 5 lb Bluefish.

Fri July 18 – Whale Watching

It was a beautiful day on the water yesterday with a refreshing breeze and cooler temperatures than those experienced earlier in the week. The whales were around and we found our first – a humpback about seven miles off Montauk. This whale was spending long intervals beneath the surface and popping up only briefly 200-300 yards away, making for a difficult encounter. We decided to continue in hopes of finding another individual, which we did, just ahead of the first. This whale, however, was also exhibiting long dive times and surfacing far away from the vessel and after photographic investigation post-trip, turned out to be the same individual as previously encountered. With little bait detected in the area, it is likely this whale was traveling (and quickly at that) in search of food. While quite natural an observation, we realize…
