Fishing Reports

Sun March 3 – Nantucket Wreck Special

Friday, March 1 to Sunday, March 3 Capt JR reports another excellent trip onboard the Viking Star. Loads of Cod and very nice Pollock kept us extremely busy with rods bent all around the boat. We ended the trip with an easy boat limit of Cod and a great catch of Pollock. As in the…

Capt JR reports a beautiful day on the water, unfortunately the fishing has not picked up much! The trip for tomorrow, Sunday Feb 11th is cancelled. We have two trips left for February. Wednesday Feb 14th and Wednesday, Feb 28th. We will be closed Feb 17th thru Feb 25th. Pool winners: Chris Fallier from Ronkonkoma, NY with the biggest Cunner. Sat Jan 27 – Winter Cod

Capt JR reports a tough day on the Viking Star. We did lots of traveling around but found just a few Cod scattered around. We ended the day finding good action on a couple deep drops and found some very good Cunner fishing with some little Pollock in the mix. The pool winner was John…

Wed Jan 24 – Winter Cod

Capt JR reports slow start to the day onboard the Viking Star. However, we did some traveling and found a lively area to get some fish in the boat. We captured lots of nice Cunners and picked some decent Cod and Mackerel. Definitely a positive sign and a great starting point for our trip on…

Wed Jan 3 – Winter Cod

Capt JR reports that we took advantage of the great weather and ventured out for the first trip of the new year onboard the Viking Star. We didn’t find the mother load, but we did find lots of life with some nice Cod, Pollock, Ling, Cunners and Mackerel coming over the rail. Guys who jigged…

Sat Dec 23 – Block Island Mixed Bag

Capt Dave reports improved fishing from yesterday on the Viking Starship. We had a bunch of Sea Bass, Ling and Bergalls in the catch. Unfortunately no Porgies or Cod to be had today. It does look like things are coming back to life after the big blow. The pool winner was Noel Miranda from Roosevelt…

Fri Dec 21 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a very tough day on the Viking Starship. This was our first day out since last Sunday and we found very dirty water left over from the blow. Action was very limited finding only a few Porgies, some Sea Bass, a Ling and a couple of dogfish. Hopefully we will find cleaner water tomorrow! This was the last Porgy & Sea Bass trip and we will switch over to Block Island Mixed Bag until the end of the year. This trip will target all bottom dwellers around the waters of Block Island including Cod, Sea Bass, Porgies and whatever else we can find! We will be sailing tomorrow (Saturday, December 22) then we will be closed through Wednesday and sail Thursday, December 28th through Sunday, December 31st.

Sun Dec 17 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a tough day of fishing today on the Viking Starship. Most of the morning was very difficult to fish with the poor weather conditions rocking the boat making for little to no bite. We had a few fish mixed in but didn’t really get on them till the last hour to hour…

Sat Dec 16 – Blackfish & Sea Bass

Capt JR reports a tough day on the Viking Star. The Sea Bass fishing was definitely not what it has been. However, the Blackfishing was definitely okay for those who knew what time it was. Plenty of guys had their limit with some beefy specimens in the mix. There’s still time to come on down and get your tog on before the season is over! The Blackfish pool winner was Theo Zmach from Westhampton Beach, NY with a 6 lber. The Sea Bass pool winner was Starto Uiboisev from Brooklyn, NY with a 4 lber.

Sat Dec 16 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a decent day on the Viking Starship. We caught them good today and saw more Porgies than we have been seeing. There were plenty of Sea Bass in the mix along with some Cod. The first place pool winner was Victor Morales with a 2 1/4 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Alex Miao with an 8 lb Cod. We are definitely sailing tomorrow. The bad weather is not expected to start until tomorrow evening. There is plenty of space available for the Block Island Porgy & Sea Bass trip. The Viking Fivestar is sailing for Blackfish, Sea Bass and Cod and there is one spot available. You can book yourself a reservation at vikingfleet.com. The office will open at 4am for check in and ticket sales.
