Tue Jan 21 – Winter Cod – Viking Star
Capt Steven Sr reports good fishing on the Viking Star. There were a lot of Cod on the boat and a bunch of shorts along with Pollock, Mackerel, Whiting and Bergalls. John Rotundi and Sergio teamed up for 9 Cod. Paul Ripperger and Mavros each had 7 Cod and 1 Pollock. Ryan Nolan and two of his friends caught 11 keeper Cod. Keith Sweat won the first place pool with a19.4 lb Cod. Second place went to Tasso Tsitis with a 15.6 lb Cod. The weather looks great this week, so get out here while the getting is good! Mon Jan 20-Schedule Update
COD BONANZA COMING The Viking Fleet will be Cod fishing every day this week – 2 trips daily! The action was fast and furious on Saturday’s trip. Don’t miss this weather window! The Cod are hungry and the captains and crew are ready to get on the fish! The Viking Fivestar is already completely booked on Wednesday the 22nd and Thursday the 23rd. The Viking Fivestar does have open spots Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. The Viking Star does have spots available every day this week, but reservations are recommended! Bring extra rigs on the Viking Star or you can purchase a “Mavros rig” on board.
Sat Jan 18-Winter Cod-Viking Fivestar
COD!!!! Capt Steven Jr reports another excellent day of fishing with a swinging load of quality Cod for the guys who braved the cold today. We had 2 fish over 20lbs and bunch of fish in the teens. Action was red hot to start and picky with a couple flurries the rest of the day. The bite is on now! Sat Jan 18 – Winter Cod – Viking Star
Capt Steven Sr reports non-stop action on the Viking Star! It’s Full Time Winter Cod! The bite is on!! We had Lock ‘n Load fishing for 2 hours. All anglers had a couple of Cod each.. At least 10 fish were in the 18 to 27 lb range. Real quality stuff! The first place pool winner was Marek Milik from Lindon, NJ with a 27.3 lb Cod. The second place pool winner was Mr. Chen from Philadelphia with a 23.3 lb Cod. We are cancelled for tomorrow’s trip, but we will begin sailing daily on Tuesday, January 21. Wed Jan 15 – Winter Cod – Viking Fivestar
COD!!!!! Capt Steven Jr reports a slammer day with the James Joseph crew and they put a beating on the Cod! All nice quality health green fish up to the mid teens and a couple pollock popped up too. We ended up a little shy of the boat limit but everyone had a load of fillets to go home with. The cod are here NOW! Don’t hesitate to call and get on a trip. Wed Jan 15 – Winter Cod – Viking Star
Capt Steven Sr reports an Outstanding Day on the Viking Star with fish on every drop! There were keepers and shorts all day long. The mates were busy filleting Cod on the way in and plenty of anglers went home without having them cleaned. Mavros “the cook” stepped outside at the right time. He dropped down and immediately had double header 8 lb Cod. After that he dropped right down and brought up another double header 8lber and a monster 28 1/2 Cod! In the end he had 7 Cod on 4 drifts. There was a lot more bait in the area and the Cod were green. We also had a bunch of Bergalls and some Mackerel. The first place pool winner was Karl Nilsen from Sag Harbor, NY with 16.5 Cod. Tue Jan 14 – Winter Cod – Viking Star
Capt Steven Jr reports a decent day seeing Cod everywhere we went, but not in any big numbers. We picked away for most of the morning with a mix of keepers and shorts. Mid day things slowed down a bit then we picked a few more fish at the end of the day. Chris Montone was high hook with 7 keepers. The first place pool went to Michele Fronda from Brooklyn, NY with a 9 lb Cod and second place went to Frank Daskalakis from Brooklyn, NY with a 7 lb Cod.

Viking Cod Early Report and Update We spoke to Captain Steven Jr on the Viking Star who is out today and they were picking away at some Cod, with around 20 keepers and some short action by 9am.
