Thurs Aug 15 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports another good day on the Viking Starship. Porgy fishing was very good by the lighthouse. We also had a bunch of nice Fluke today with about a 1/2 dozen keepers. There were also Mackerel. On the Sea Bass grounds we had a ton of little ones, but everyone managed a few keepers. Michael Bolton from Brentwood, NY was the first place pool winner with a 3.1 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Gim Lee from Queens, NY with a 5.2 lb Fluke.
Wed Aug 14 – Whale Watching- Starship
Without a doubt, exceptional days are becoming standard on Viking/CRESLI whale watching trips this season! Once again, we found a large group of humpbacks, approximately twelve miles from Montauk. We first encountered a group of three humpbacks feeding on dense shoals of bait (likely sand eels) midway through the water column. We know this because the whales pooped frequently and often came up straining the engulfed water through their baleen at the surface. Things quickly got interesting as a mom and calf pair appeared and at least seven more humpbacks were encountered, many of which were in close proximity of the vessel, affording excellent views. Thurs Aug 15 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM
Capt JR reports a productive morning of catching onboard the Viking Star. Sea bass, Porgies, and Fluke kept rods bent and our anglers busy at the rail. Lots of Sea Bass and Porgies filled the buckets with a few nice keeper to top off the bags of meat. The pool winner today went to Rob Lenois from Larchmont, NY with a 4.5 lb Fluke.
Wed Aug 14 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM
Captain Mike Ricker reports good numbers of massive sea bass and many jumbo porgies and a half of dozen nice fluke. We had ourselves an excellent afternoon of mixed bag fishing! Our pool winner this afternoon was Ron Ocean with a 4-pound fluke.
Wed Aug 14 – Full Day Block Island Fluke & Sea Bass

Wed Aug 14 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Captain Dave reports an action-packed day of fishing along with excellent conditions. From the jump, everyone had a bite. Lots of porgies and mackerel were caught close to the lighthouse, and later, when the crew was close to Block Island, there was an endless amount of mixed-sized sea bass. The pool winner today was Andrew Amato with a 2 1/2 pound porgy. The runner-up was Chevan with a four 1/2-pound sea bass.

Tue Aug 13 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports great fishing on the Viking Starship. Porgy fishing was excellent by the lighthouse. We had good conditions to anchor, so we sat there and got all the Porgies we needed. It was a mixed size of fish. Offshore Sea Bass fishing was good, we had to pick through them but everyone had some nice ones. There were also a ton of Mackerel in the mix. The pool winner was Justin Cruz from Pleasantville, NJ with a 2 1/2lb Porgy.
