Wed July 31 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports a good day of fishing on the Viking Starship. Porgy fishing was excellent by the lighthouse. We anchored up on a nicer spot today and found better size fish. We changed up the Sea Bass drop today and drifted in deeper water. There weren’t tons of bites, but we did have very…

Mon July 29 – Whale Watching – Viking Star
Although the whales are still around, Mother Nature had other plans in store for yesterday’s trip. It was raining most of the morning and when we left the dock, but reports indicated a clearing shortly after our departure time. We headed towards the area where we have previously encountered large numbers of humpbacks and other…
Sun July 28 – Whale Watching – Viking Starship
Another spectacular day among whales. The visibility was unlimited and we saw whales from five nautical miles away. We saw picket fences of whale blows all across the horizon. When we got to the whales, we spent time with trios (mom, calf, escort), as well as many associated pairs. There were easily 30 humpback whales, and several minke whales around us. This report will be updated as soon as possible with further analysis of photos and data.
Mon July 29 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports a tougher day of fishing today on the Viking Starship. The weather was not great today so, it did make for rougher conditions for some passengers aboard today. We anchored off the lighthouse first thing this morning and had a decent shot of mixed sized Porgies with some good size to a few, but most of them were on the smaller side. We did venture off a bit to do some SeaBass fishing which the weather made it more difficult here, but they were definitely there and biting with fish up to 3 lbs. The pool winner today went to Meri Hope with a 2 lb Porgy. We will be sailing again tomorrow at 5am on our Montauk Jumbo Porgies and SeaBass, our ticket office will be open at 4am.

Capt JR reports a solid day of fishing today off Block Island on the Viking Starlite! The SeaBass bite was a little off this morning, but most anglers did find their limit, with some really nice size to the fish today. The Fluke fishing definitely continued to be quite good with lots of fishing coming…
