Tue July 18 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM
Capt JR reports a very good trip this afternoon onboard the Viking Star. It was lock and load Sea Bass fishing with big big beautiful Knot Heads bending rods all around the boat. The action was only interrupted by the occasional KEEPER Fluke being scooped up in our nets. Everyone went home with fish for…
Tue July 18 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports great fishing on the Viking Starship. Porgy fishing was excellent with mixed sizes today. We had smaller fish than we have been seeing, but there is plenty of action with a lot of life out there. Sea Bass fishing to the east was decent. Again you had to pick through the smaller…
Tue July 18 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM
Capt JR reports that this morning’s trip on the Viking Star was definitely a big improvement over yesterday’s trip. We had decent action in all the areas we fished. Some very nice Porgies, Sea Bass, and KEEPER Fluke had rods bent all trip long. The calmer seas seem to have inspired more action in the…
Mon July 17– Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports a tougher day of fishing today on the Viking Starship. The bite was definitely off from the weather yesterday, the combination of dirty water from the rain and the large ground swell made for difficult fishing. We had a lot of little fish in the mix, with a lot of throwbacks. Everyone still had a decent catch of Porgies, a couple SeaBass, and there were a few Blue fish on the boat, but nothing great in size. The first place pool winner went to Bishop LaBarrie McCoy from Brooklyn, NY with a 3lb Porgy, and a we would like to wish him a very happy birthday as well. The edible pool winner today went to Wilfredo Munoz from Manhattan, NY with a 6 lb Blue fish. We are sailing again tomorrow (Tuesday, July 17th) on our 5am…
Mon July 17 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM
Capt J.R. reports a slower morning of fishing on the Viking Star. A big roll from ground swells and a moon tide made things a little difficult all trip. However, we did pick away at some sea bass, porgies, and a few fluke. We found action at all the areas we fished. The first place…
Sun July 16 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports a pretty good day of fishing today on the Viking Starship, despite poor weather conditions. We anchored up most of the day for Porgies to keep from being blown around by the strong winds. We had a pretty good pick of Porgies today, everyone seemed to have their share of medium to large with a few jumbos as well as a few Blue fish in the mix. We did not get to go offshore because of the weather but everyone still seemed to walk away with 1-2 keeper SeaBass. We did not do a pool on the boat today, but the largest Porgy was about 2 1/2 lbs. We are sailing again tomorrow (Monday, July 17th) at 5 am on our Montauk Lighthouse Porgies and SeaBass.
Sun July 16 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM
Capt Mike reports a decent morning of fishing on the Viking Star. This mornings conditions weren’t ideal with wind and rain combination, but it started to clear up midway through the trip. Despite the weather we did still manage to boat our share of Porgies, SeaBass, and a handful of keeper Fluke up to 7 lbs. The Sea Robin were extremely active again today was well, making it a bother to pick through. We did not do a pool on the boat today.
Sat July 16 – New Moon Striped Bass
Capt J.R. reports lots of action aboard the Viking Star for the new moon Striped bass trip. However, most of the action was from big angry blue fish bending rods all around the boat. It was a lot of fun for the whole night. We did manage to boat a couple Striped bass to keep…
Sat July 15 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM
Capt Mike reports a good trip on the Viking Star. The afternoon started off hot with big Sea Bass and keeper Fluke and some Porgies in the buckets. Things slowed down for the tide change, but it picked back up late with more keeper Fluke and Sea Bass. The pool winner was Tommy Falciano from Moriches, NY with a 4 lb Fluke.
Sat July 15 – Full Day Block Island Fluke & Sea Bass
Capt JR reports a very good day on the Viking Starlite. We found some very productive Fluke fishing in the waters off of Block Island with some anglers retaining their limit. It was a good pick of quality fish all day. Some fish in the 5-6lb range were common. In addition to the much improved Fluke harvesting we easily caught a limit of big beautiful Sea Bass to top off the buckets. The first place pool winner was Mike Williams from Newark, DE with an 8 1/2 lb Fluke. The second place pool winner was Rick Stanton from Newark, NJ with a 3 1/2 lb Sea Bass. We have added another trip for Sunday, July 23. You can book online at vikingfleet.com or give us a call at 631-668-5700.
