Mon Aug 31 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass
Capt Dave reports great fishing on the Viking Starship. We started off down the beach to get out of the tide and found Large Porgies. When the tide eased we headed to the lighthouse and had a mix of Porgies and SeaBass along with 1/2 dozen keeper Fluke and shorts. We then went east for SeaBass and got in a quick drift finding all of the SeaBass we needed as well as more Large Porgies and 2 Cod. The pool winner was Tony Park from Flushing, Queens with a 3 lb Porgy.
Mon Aug 31 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM
Capt JR reports extremely good fishing this morning on the Viking Star. Everyone had buckets of giant Sea Bass and Porgies. It was action packed!! The pool winner was 11 year old Phoenix Forbes from Montauk with a 4.9 lb SeaBass.
Sun Aug 30 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM
Capt JR reports an excellent trip this afternoon. We had tons of action from start to finish. We had Sea Bass, Porgies, and Fluke coming over the rail all trip. We also landed two very nice trigger fish. Big bags of meat going off the boat. The pool winner was Jonathan Swanson from Bohemia, NY with a 5lb Fluke.
Sun Aug 30 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports an excellent trip on the Viking Starship. We had to do a couple of drops due to windy conditions, but brought aboard plenty of medium to large Porgies. When we went for Sea Bass the results were not as good as they have been. A lot of shorts, but again some nice larger Porgies were in the mix. Anglers brought in some nice keeper Fluke as well. Victor Suera of Brentwood, NY won the first place pool with a 2 3/4 lb Porgy and Wendell Buchanan of Teaneck,NJ won the edible pool with a 6 lb Fluke. NYS Marine Regulations change September 1st. Porgy bag increases from 30 to 50 fish through October 31st and Sea Bass increases to 7 fish until Dec 31st.
Sun Aug 30 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM
Capt JR reports a very good trip despite some very windy conditions on the Viking Star. We managed to have a pretty good trip, and had Porgies and SeaBass coming up all trip. We saw some keeper fluke mixed in as well. The pool winner was Liam Daly from Merrick, NY with a 4.75 lb Fluke. The edible pool winner was Steve Chang from Great Neck, NY with a 4 lb SeaBass.
Sat Aug 29 -Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Stephen D reports a great day on the Viking Starlite. Even though the weather was pretty nautical today we managed a great catch. We started off drifting at the lighthouse and as fishing was so good we pretty much stayed there all day. We had plenty of Porgies today, a little on the smaller side than we have been catching but everyone had their limits of keepers. Alexander Jovel from Elizabeth NJ won today’s pool with a 4lb Porgy.
Sat Aug 29- 1/2 Day Fishing AM
Capt Dave G reports a good morning of fishing aboard the Viking Star in breezy conditions. We had a nice catch of porgies and sea bass along with a couple of fluke. The pool winner was Giancarlo Arotinco from New Hyde Park, NY, with a 3.25 lb Fluke.
Fri Aug 28 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM
Capt Dave G reports a very good afternoon of fishing aboard the Viking Star. We had plenty of keeper Fluke, big Sea Bass and nice sized Porgies. The fish bit from the beginning of the trip until the end. The pool winners for first and second place are Jay & Caroline from Queens with a 5.6 lb and 5.8 lb Fluke.
Fri Aug 28 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass
Capt Dave reports a good day on the Viking Starship. We headed to the SeaBass grounds to start out. It was a slow drift to start out and the fish were not biting. When the conditions got right it was good and we were able to get our SeaBass. We finished up at the lighthouse where we had plenty of bites with nice size Porgies. The first place pool winner was Franklin Olivares from Manhattan with a 3.2 lb Porgy. The the edible pool winner was Judith Taylor from Rockland Co., NY with a 4 lb SeaBass.
Fri Aug 28 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM
Capt Dave G reports a good morning of fishing aboard the Viking Star. The bite started slowly, but picked up as the morning went on. We ended up with a nice catch of Sea Bass, Porgies and a couple Fluke. The pool winner was Robert Caffiero from Fresh Meadows, NY with a 5.75 lb fluke. There was a tie for second place between Arthur Kesslor from Syosset, NY and Patrick Lynam from West Islip, NY with 4.25 lb Fluke.
