Sun June 5

Montauk Jumbo Spring Porgies Captain Dave reports a slow pick of mixed size porgies. The first place pool winner was the Suero Family from Bronx, NY with a 3.7lb porgy.

Saturday June 4

New Bedford Porgies Captain Steven Jr reports a very tough day today. We had difficult time with the porgies, but we did get some nice sized sea bass. Montauk Jumbo Spring Porgies Captain Dave reports a tough day of fishing aboard the Viking Stariper. We had a decent amount of big fish for about an hour. After that we culled thru a lot of little fish. At the end of the trip everyone ended up with about a bucket of fish. The pool winner was Tina Nichols from Brooklyn, NY with a 3lb porgy. 1/2 Day Fluke Captain Dave reports a fun fluke trip. We had a bunch of keepers up to 4lbs. A couple dozen porgies and blue fish. The pool winner was Steve Gayda from Merrick, NY with a 4lb fluke.

Fri June 3

Half Day Fluke PM Captain Dave reports a great day of fishing this afternoon! We had lots of action with many shorts, and then when the tide changed right at the end of the day we had a handful of keepers. Shannon Rom of Breezy Point was the pool winner today with a 3.2lb fluke. Montauk Jumbo Spring Porgies Captain Dave reports okay fishing today aboard the Viking Stariper. We had nice fish, but it was a little slower than it has been. On the first drop we had nice big fish, but when we moved on the fish were smaller. We then found a new spot and had a slow pick of nice fish.

Thursday June 2

Montauk Jumbo Spring Porgies Captain Dave reports an excellent day of porgy fishing today. Everyone went home with plenty of fish! We saw a nicer size, mostly all big porgies today, along with some blues in the mix. Today’s pool winner was Jorge Quizhpi of Lakeland NJ with a nice bug 4lb porgy.

Wednesday June 1

Montauk Jumbo Spring Porgies Captain Dave reports a good day of porgy fishing today. It started out tough with a difficult tide, but once the tide changed, it was a bail job! We had a mixed size of porgies, we also had some blues and 1 striped bass. Today’s pool winner was Shkelzen Morina of Richmond Hill with a nice 3.5lb porgy. New Bedford Porgies Steven Jr reports they had a good day today from beginning to end! We had a steady pick that resulted in full coolers of porgies and everyone with or close to their seabass limit! Nicky N. from Brooklyn took the pool with a 3.2 lb porgy.

Tue May 31

Montauk Jumbo Spring Porgies Captain Dave reports a slow pick all day long, however the fish that were caught were quality fish weighing in at around 4lbs. We also saw some bluefish. We did not have a pool today on the boat.

Mon May 30

New Bedford Porgies Captain Steven Jr reports a good day of fishing today aboard the Viking Star. We had mixed size fish coming up all morning. On the way home, we made our last drop of the day and everyone had a nice shot of sea bass. Montauk Jumbo Spring Porgies Captain Dave reports a lot of action on the first drop with mixed size fish. The second drop was a “Bail Job” of BIG FISH. We also had some blue fish, weak fish, and sea bass – released unharmed. The pool winner was Benjamin Hercules from Uniondale, NY with a 3 1/2 lb porgy.

Sun May 29

1/2 Day Fluke-AM Captain Carl reports excellent fishing with a lot of keepers. Every group went home with fish. The first place pool winner was Glenn Schwitter from New Milford, CT with a 6.2lb fluke. The second place pool winner was Kamal Chata from Jackson Heights, NY with a 5.7lb fluke. 1/2 Day Fluke-PM Captain Carl reports another excellent afternoon of fishing. Several locals climbed out of their caves from winter hibernation. Some of the highlights included Freddie “Motor” Shay catching 7 keeper fluke (ORL) up to 6.5lbs. Bill Swill needed a tutorial on how to use his rod, and after that somehow managed to catch a keeper fluke. The first place pool winner was long time Viking angler, Terri Coleman of Holbrook, NY with a 6.6 lb fluke. The second place pool winner was Tyler Paola from Deer Park,…

Saturday May 28

Montauk Jumbo Spring Porgies Captain Dave reports another very good day of fishing. Everyone retained their limit today, with mixed size porgies and some blues. Today’s pool winner was Jose Holguin of Monroe with a nice 3.5lb porgy. We are sold out for Sun 5/29 and Mon 5/30, we still have availability for the rest of the week so please make your reservations! AM-1/2 Day Fluke Captain Carl reports okay fishing with plenty of short action. We had a decent amount of keepers and sea bass that we had to throw back. The pool winner was Pat Degennaro from West Babylon, NY with a 4.8lb fluke. PM – 1/2 Day Fluke Captain Carl reports plenty of action and a good amount of keepers on the afternoon trip. Friday May 27

Half Day Fluke AM Captain Steven Sr reports a good first day of fluke fishing aboard the Viking Starship! It started a bit slow, but after a few drops we were on the fish! We had some nice keepers and lots of shorts throughout the rest of the morning. A special shout out to Mary Poppins, who caught a nice keeper, and her daughter, Viking Fleet’s own Christi Brown who got a nice 3.5lb fluke! Happy Birthday to our first place pool winner today, Thomas Antorino of Centerach with a 2.6lb fluke. We will be half day fishing all weekend, so make sure you come on out and join us!
