Fishing Reports

Mon Aug 5 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt Carl reports a fine morning of 1/2 Day Family Fun Fishing on the Viking Starlite this morning. The water was a bit brown and dirty where we started off, so we made a move and found some cleaner water and hungry fish! Black Sea Bass and Porgies made up the majority of the catch,…

Sun Aug 4 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports pretty good fishing today on the Viking Starship. Today’s conditions weren’t great with the strong tide and light wind, so we did spend most our morning drifting off the lighthouse picking through some smaller stuff. We eventually zeroed in on some larger fish about mid-way through the trip and had our large…

Sun Aug 4 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt Mike reports a decent morning of mixed bag fishing on the Viking Star. This morning started off steady catching a mix of Porgy and SeaBass. We had a few nice keeper Fluke early as well. The bite tapered off a bit when the wind pick up. We also got the opportunity to see a…

Sat Aug 3 – 1/2 Day PM

Capt Mike reports a good afternoon on the Viking Star. The trip started off hot with big Sea Bass and keeper Fluke. The wind picked up mid trip and limited where we could fish, so we had a nice amount of fish in the buckets early. The pool winner was Henry McIntosh from NYC with…

Sat Aug 3 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a tough trip on the Viking Starship. The tide was running hard, so we had to travel around a lot. When we got to the Porgies they were biting good and the size was decent. It was a mix of smalls to jumbos and not many throwbacks. Sea Bass was definitely slow. They just didn’t bite well. We had some keepers, but most were shorts. First place pool winner was Gerson from Levitown, NY with a 3.1 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Samuel from Corey, NJ with a 3.8 lb Sea Bass. We are sailing tomorrow at 5AM. Fri Aug 2 – 1/2 Day PM

Capt Mike reports a pretty good afternoon of fishing on the Viking Starlite. Trip started what was to be a steady mixed bag bite. Some nice sea bass and jumbo porgies I the buckets. We had alot of short Fluke, but manage several August keepers to add! The first prize pool winner went to Rachel Carpitlla from West Babylon with a 3.5 lb Fluke.

Fri Aug 2 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports great fishing on the Viking Starship. There was a lot of tide by the lighthouse due to the new moon. We drifted and it was very good even in the strong tide. That is when we had the bigger Porgies. When it eased off the fish we had were smaller, so we headed off to the Sea Bass grounds. There were a lot of little ones, but some quality came up giving anglers their limit. We saw nicer fish then we have been seeing. Some Fluke were caught today along with Mackerel and the first showing of Bluefish. Tyrone Balgon from NJ won the first place pool with a 2.2 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Orlando Saravia from Scranton, PA with a 4.2 lb Sea Bass.

Fri Aug 2 – 1/2 Day Charter

Capt Mike reports a good trip for the 1/2 Day Charter on the Viking Starlite. Action started on the first drift and continued until the last drift. There were plentiful buckets of Porgies and the kids landed keeper Fluke as well. We are also seeing some Trigger fish showing up.

Thur Aug 1 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt JR reports a good pick of Porgies and SeaBass all afternoon on the Viking Star. We had a very light crowd and easily put a good looking catch together. A couple of guys also found a keeper fluke to top off their catch. There was no pool on the boat this afternoon.
