Sat Sept 2 – Full Day Block Island Fluke& Sea Bass

Capt JR reports that we definitely had a tough day Fluke wise on the mighty Viking Starlite. We fished many different areas and covered a lot of ground, but only found a few nice ones. We did find abundant numbers of big Sea Bass and easily had our boat limit. However, the Fluke were a…

Sat Sept 2 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports good fishing on the Viking Starship. We anchored up to start the morning with a nice steady two hour window of mixed size Porgies. After that we headed offshore for Sea Bass and picked away at a lot of little ones, but everyone had a couple of keepers. We stopped by the lighthouse on the way back to the dock. Drifting we had ALL BIG PORGIES since the swell has eased up. There were also about a 1/2 dozen Fluke on the boat. The first place pool winner was Anthony Lucero from Queens with a 2 1/2 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Abdul Moseley from Ghana with a 4 lb Fluke.

Sat Sept 2 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt Mike reports a quiet morning on the Viking Star. It started off pretty slow, but picked up in the end with a few Sea Bass and a half dozen keeper Fluke on the last drift. The pool winner was John Kinslow from Islip, NY with a 4 lb Fluke.

Capt Mike reports a good afternoon on the Viking Star. It started off a little slow, but picked up to steady catching. We had nice mixed bag of big Porgies and Sea Bass with double digit keeper Fluke! It was a nice day on the water! The pool winner was Brian Niehr from Bayshore, NY…

Fri Sept 1 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies and Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports good fishing on the Viking Starship. We started out anchored up east of the lighthouse. It was two hours of decent Porgy and Sea Bass fishing without much tide. Most of the Porgies were large sized. We went offshore in search of more Sea Bass. At the first spot we had mostly small stuff. At our second spot we had excellent Sea Bass fishing with Jumbo Porgies mixed in. The pool winner was Luell Smith from Brooklyn, NY with a 2 1/2 lb Porgy. The bonus season has begun! Fri Sept 1 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Captain Carl reports rather sporty conditions this morning made for some tough fishing down the beach. We did have plenty of action keeping everyone busy but with mostly smaller fish and only a couple Porgies, Sea Bass, and KEEPER Fluke making it into the buckets. The wind has laid down now, so we expect much…

Thurs Aug 31 – Full Moon Striped Bass

Capt Carl reports another absolutely FIN-OMINAL Full Moon Trip tonight on the Viking Star! From the first drift to the last, we caught multiple 30, 40, and 50 plus pounders, all released safely! Once again, all anglers onboard caught their PB Striped Bass. We also had some Gorilla smoker Bluefish! It was another night to…

Wed Aug 30 – Whale Watching

Bookended by dolphins and scintillated by a sunset! Although passengers boarded the Viking Starship in the rain yesterday, the sun came out as soon as we set sail and stayed dry for the remainder of the trip. We began, almost immediately, with a group of inshore bottlenose dolphins, which were feeding on small patches of…

Thurs Aug 31 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt J.R. reports a tough afternoon of fishing on the Viking Star. The large ground swell and the combination of wind made for more difficult conditions and slow fishing. We did however manage a decent pick of keeper fish, with a few Fluke and a handful of SeaBass and Porgies. The pool winner this afternoon…

Thurs Aug 31 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a tough trip on the Viking Starship. There was a big ground swell with dirty water that made the fish not bite in our usual spots. After trying a few of these spots with no luck we headed offshore to cleaner water and had a decent pick of mostly large Porgies with mixed size Sea Bass. There were some Mackerel too. The pool winner was Noel Henson from Brooklyn, NY with a 2 lb Porgy.
