Sat July 4 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM
Capt Dave G reports a good morning of fishing aboard the Viking Star. We are finally seeing a larger catch of Fluke around Montauk lighthouse. There are a lot of shorts in the mix along with a few keepers. We are seeing plenty of nice Sea bass and Porgies in the catch as well. The first place pool winner was Leighton Brillo-Sonnin0 from Fort Lauderdale, FL with a 5.25 lb Fluke. The edible pool winner was Luis Guayara from Woodside, NY with a 3.5 lb Sea Bass.
Fri July 3 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM
Capt Dave G reports a good afternoon of fishing aboard the Viking Star. We had thunderstorms and rain for most of the trip, but the fish were hungry and were biting. We ended up with a nice catch of Sea Bass, Porgies and Fluke. Most of the Fluke are shorts but we had a couple keepers in the mix. The pool winner was Angelo Demetroulakos from Brooklyn, NY with a 5 3/4 lb Bluefish. The people who caught Fluke were not in the pool!
Fri July 3 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass
Capt Dave reports a slower day on the Viking Starship. It was okay, but the full moon had them off the bite a bit. We drilled it out and most had their limits of Porgies and SeaBass. The first place pool winner was Raul Perez from New Jersey with a 3 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Jose Hernandez from Queens with a 12 lb Striped Bass.
Fri July 3 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM
Capt Dave G reports a slower morning of fishing aboard the Viking Star. It was a nice morning on the water, however drifting conditions were not very good as we had to fish through slack tide. Still we ended up with a mixed bag of Sea Bass, Porgies and Fluke. We are still seeing mostly short fluke, not a lot of keepers. The first place pool winner was Kristen Kelly from Ronkonkoma, NY with a 4 lb Fluke. The edible pool winner was Angelo Demetroulakos from Brookly, NY with a 3.75 lb Bluefish.
Thurs July 2 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM
Capt Dave G reports a good afternoon of fishing aboard the Viking Star. The big Sea Bass are finally here! We ended up with a great catch of knotheads on the afternoon flood tide, along with some nice Scup. Pool winners to follow.
Thurs July 2 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass
Capt Dave reports excellent fishing on the Viking Starship. Our first stop was the lighthouse and the Porgy fishing was so great we were out of there by 8:30. We headed offshore to the east to find the SeaBass. It was a tough bite, but with some work everybody was rewarded with Jumbo SeaBass. We also had a Cod fish. The first place pool winner was Leon Bangari from the Bronx, NY with a 3.2 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Apolco Abiad from Fort Lee, NJ with a 5 lb Cod.
Thurs July 2 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM
Capt Dave G reports a good morning of fishing aboard the Viking Star. We had beautiful conditions and nice drifts during the entire trip. We ended up with a nice catch of Sea Bass, Porgies and Fluke, with a lot of shorts mixed in with the keepers. The pool winner was John White from Oakridge, TN with a 3 lb Sea Bass.
Wed July 1 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM
Capt Chris reports that the afternoon’s flood tide couldn’t compete with yesterdays on the Viking Star. Although it was a bit slow, we did manage several doormats to 8 lbs along with some SeaBass and Scup as well. Pool winners to follow.
Wed July 1 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports a fantastic day of fishing! Our first drop of the day saw some of the best Porgy fishing we have seen so far this year. We had good sized Porgies mixed in with some Bluefish. We then hit one of the offshore wrecks and boy did we hit on the mother load of Sea Bass. The spot was loaded with Sea Bass, we did have a lot of smaller fish that had to go back but we also landed beautiful Sea bass as well as a lot of jumbo Porgies. The final drop of the day saw a steady pick of Porgies and then we headed back to the dock. All of today’s anglers left with their coolers full of fish. Today’s pool was won by Benny Niranjan of Queens who landed a 3.4 lb Porgy. Troy…
Wed July 1 – Half Day Fishing AM
Capt. Chris A. reports that we had an enjoyable repeat of yesterday morning with good fishing. We had lots of action with Fluke, Seabass and Scup making the buckets all around. The pool fish was Dan Gersh of Port Washington, NY with a 3.25lb Fluke
