Captain Dave reports that we fished locally today right around the lighthouse. The Porgies were bigger than we have seen yet this year with most keepers being Large and Jumbo Porgies. We did not catch limits today, definitely a case of quality over quantity. We did however catch tons of Sea Bass which were released unharmed. Daryl Adams from Atlantic City, NJ was the pool winner with a 3.5 lb Porgy. Call or log onto vikingfleet.com to book your trip. Capt Derek reports a good full day charter on the Viking Star. We started off the morning Porgy fishing at the lighthouse and it was a solid bite with all larger fish. Once the tide got going we went and tried Fluke fishing and only had some shorts. In the afternoon we went back to try for some more Porgies and with a very fast drift holding bottom it was tough and we only picked a couple more fish. Overall it was a decent day of fishing, definitely great to see the Scup showing up at the lighthouse and being of the larger size.

Capt Dave reports Quality over Quantity today on the Viking Starship! We started out drifting by the lighthouse and we picked away at the nicest kind of Large and Jumbo Porgies. After that slowed down we headed down the beach and anchored up finding Porgies of the biggest kind! We also had quite a few Bluefish and some Striped Bass. All of the Porgies caught today were 2 lbs and better. The first place pool winner was Keith Watson from Freeport, NY with a 3.2 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Jonathan Watson from Brooklyn, NY with a 4 lb Bluefish.

Capt Dave reports decent fishing today on the Viking Starship. We had a mix of medium to large Porgies and some Bluefish. Towards the end of the trip it turned into a slow pick with a few bigger size Porgies mixed in. The first place pool winner was Victoria Bruce from Hollis, Queens with a 2.5 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Andre Matthews from NYC with a 5 lb Bluefish.

Capt Dave reports good early fishing on the Viking Starship. We had a decent pick of medium to large variety Porgies that lasted awhile. We ran into a big load of seaweed that shut us off for awhile. Toward the end of the trip we had a slow pick of Jumbos. The first place pool winner was Emilo Martinez from Woodlawn with a 2.4 lb Scup. The edible pool winner was Gary Cooper from Manhattan with a 7 lb Bluefish.

Capt Derek reports a good morning on the Viking Star. We started off around the lighthouse to get out of the wind and had nice conditions. Fishing started off a little slow picking a couple of shorts. We made a little move and the action picked up. We were able to get some keeper Fluke and even a keeper Striped Bass. There were not as many Blues around, but we still saw a few. The pool was a tie between Viggo Negroponte from East Hampton, NY and Martin Wellen Dowd from Yorkville, NYC with 5 1/2 lb Fluke.

1/2 Day – PM Capt Derek reports that the tougher conditions in the afternoon with the wind being against the tide made it harder to fish where we did this morning. However we still managed to pick some short Fluke, a couple Seabass that were released and a couple of short Striped Bass. We were able to end the day with a couple of keeper Fluke and Bluefish. Definitely steady action and soon we will start to see more of the keeper size showing up! The pool winner was Angelo Demetroulakos from Brooklyn. Pool Winner from the 1/2 Day afternoon trip!  

Capt Dave reports a much much better day of fishing than we saw yesterday! The weather was 100 percent nicer and so was fishing. We saw more fish coming over the rails and lots of bigger fish too. The seaweed was a little thick today but we fished through it and a lot of anglers had their Porgy limit. We also caught some nice Bluefish today. Lenor Nieves from NYC was the first place pool winner with a 3lb Porgy. Milciades Rodriquez won the edible pool with a 6lb Bluefish.

Capt Derek reports that we started off the morning down by the lighthouse and picked a couple of of shorts with some Seabass mixed in that were all released. We then made a move to deeper water a got a couple keeper Fluke. All in all for the morning there was a steady pick of short Fluke with nice Bluefish, short Striped Bass and and nice Seabass mixed in. The pool was settled with a tie between John Galgano of kings Park, NY and Brianna Ryan of Queens who each had a 4.5 lb Fluke.    

Capt Dave reports a slower than usual day on the Viking Starship. They were there but it was a tough bite possibly due to the full moon and the windy conditions. It did pick up towards the end of the trip and we put in some extra time to fill up the pails. The first place pool winner was Noel Miranda from NYC with a 2 1/2 lb Porgy. The second place pool winner was Warren Hodge from Manhattan with a 2 1/4 lb Porgy. We are sailing daily. Reservations are required. You can book online or call the office between 10am and 2pm.
