Viking Fleet Fishing Reports

Montauk

Sun Sept 15 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies and Knothead Sea Bass

Captain Dave M reports an excellent day of fishing on the Viking Starship. We started out drifting close to Block Island and had an excellent mix of large and Jumbo Porgies. Later we tried an off-shore drift where the Porgies were smaller, medium to large with some smaller Sea Bass than we’ve been catching lately. Anglers brought in some exotics as well. We had some smaller Albacore, a few Mackerel and a few Tuna. All our anglers went home with stuffed coolers and big smiles. There was a three way tie for 1st place in the pool Mauricio Castro, Danny Situ and Fax Hylton all bringing in 2.65 pound Scups. Second place in the pool went to Hamilton Creton with a 27 pound Tuna!

Capt. Dave reports a good day of fishing with tons of action. We started off drifting close to Block Island where we got one good drift, but then full moon tide started to pick up so we moved to a spot where we got lots of action, with plenty of medium Porgies and a few Seabass mixed in. The conditions got better so we decided to head over to where we first started, where we got excellent Porgies and Seabass all really nice in size. The first pool winner was Marcia James from Bronx NY, with a 2.2 lb Porgy. The second pool winner was Carmel Aromstrong from Teaneck NJ, with a 5.2 lb Codfish.

Fri Sept 13 – Montauk Jumbo Porgies & SeaBass

Capt Dave reports great fishing on the Viking Starship. It was breezy to start so we anchored up and had good size Porgies with some SeaBass mixed in. The tide started running hard so we tucked up close to Block Island and anchored again. Once you hit bottom you got ’em! There were medium to large Porgies, some SeaBass and Striped Bass. When the tide and wind eased we tried a couple of drifts and it was very good! The pool winner was Dimas Soto from Central Islip, NY with a 2.6 lb Porgy.
