Thursday June 5

New Bedford Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports another very good day of fishing aboard the Viking Starship! We had lots of really nice BIG porgies and plenty of nice sea bass. Most people had their limits on both porgies and sea bass. Today’s pool winner was Wayne Yua of Manhattan with a nice big 3lb porgy.

Monday June 2

New Bedford Porgies and Sea Bass Capt Dave reports a very good day of fishing today in New Bedford! We had lots of nice BIG porgies! We also had a few nice sea bass and a few blackfish in the mix. Today’s pool winner was Tonya Thompson of Bridgeton, CT with a HUGE 4lb porgy!

Sunday June 1

Half Day Fluke Pm Captain Ant reports a sensational afternoon Fluking. We average over a keeper a fare and had loads of action the entire trip.  The Pool winner Bulent Mehmetoglu  from South Salem, NY with a 4.5lbs Special mention goes to the lovely Dr Stephanie Carol Talmage Forsberg who was high hook with 4 fish to 5.5lbs New Bedford Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports  good fishing and that he had some nice Jumbo porgies and Jumbo sea bass up to 5lbs. The pool winner was Nick Ljekocevic with a 3.5lb Montauk Cherry Harbor Porgies Captain Ant reports a porgy crush today at our local grounds. New Bedford Porgies and Sea Bass Pm Captain Dave reports that the afternoon trip started off picky but as the day went on fishing got better. The pool winner was Mr John Ford from Lakewood, NJ with a 3lb Half Day Fluke PM Capt Ant reports despite the stiff east wind and rolly conditions, we had an excellent afternoon of fluke fishing! First place winner was Kevin Timony of Farmingville with a 4.7lb fluke. Freddy “Motor” Shea was high hook with 4 nice keepers, followed by Briggs Housten with 3 keepers and Angelo Demetroulakos with 2 keepers! Wednesday May 28

New Bedford Porgies and Sea Bass Capt Dave reports an overall good day of fishing today despite the bad weather. We had a slow start in the morning, but we hit a a nice pile of fish and then it was on! We had some really nice sized fish today, with mostly porgies. We did have some sea bass in the mix, but not as much as we have been seeing, but still some nice sized fish up to about 4lbs. Today, we had a tie for the pool! Good friends Dennis Phillips and Dennis Holtsmeyer, both of Upper Marlboro, MD came in a tie for first place with nice 3lb porgies!

Monday May 26

Happy Memorial Day from the Viking Fleet. Half Day Fluke Pm Captain Ant Reports on the afternoon trip ben from Manhattan 12 years old took the fluke pool with a 4lb Fred Shea limited on both trips but only retained his daily allowance. Fred’s largest was 4lbs. Half Day Fluke Am Captain Ant reports decent fishing for both half day trips. It wasn’t the slay job we had yesterday. but plenty of fish came over the rails and in the pails. In the morning Nick Cerrato  from Shinnecock took the pool with a 6lber Brian O’Neil took the largest edible pool with a 5.5 blue fish. New Bedford Porgies and Sea Bass PM Captain Dave reports a very good afternoon of fishing in New Bedford! He says ” It’s Porgy Time!” He thinks it is the start of some really good porgy fishing! There is a new body of fish coming in, and we had them coming over the rails all afternoon! We had mostly big fish, nice porgies and a few very nice sea bass in the mix as well. The pool winner was Subbaiah Somaiah of the Bronx with a nice 3.5lb porgy. Saturday May 24

New Bedford Porgies and Sea Bass Pm Captain Dave reports a much better afternoon trip with some mixed size  fish we had more sea bass. The pool Mr Brian Bagg from Long Island City with a 3lb Edible pool winner was Mr Atkinson from Queens,NY with a 4lb sea bass. Night Striped Bass Capt Ant Reports a slow night on the grounds although the bass have showed up. We unfortunately caught the tail end of the tide and had to sit through slack and wind against the ebb for much of the voyage. Half Day  Fluke Pm Captain Ant reports Awesome Pm fluking with tons of action and plenty of keepers all around the boat. Angelo D had 6 keepers all to 3.5lbs the Albany Lacrosse boys went home with a 15lbs of fillet. Pool winner  Steve Hanford City Island, NY with a 4.75lber. New Bedford Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports a slow start but as the day went on it got better and better we had a mix of a Medium and Jumbo porgies also we saw a lot more sea bass today. Thursday May 22

New Bedford Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Dave reports a bit of a picky day on the porgy grounds. There were definitely fish around, but it was a slow steady pick. Some anglers did better than others, with mostly porgies and some sea bass in the mix. Today’s first place pool winner was Joel Jones of Hollis, NY with a nice 3.25lb porgy, and Miguel Eacheio of the Bronx, NY, who accidentally took one of the mates fishing rods but it was returned, won the second place pool with a 3.5lb sea bass.
