Saturday June 4

New Bedford Porgies Captain Steven Jr reports a very tough day today. We had difficult time with the porgies, but we did get some nice sized sea bass. Montauk Jumbo Spring Porgies Captain Dave reports a tough day of fishing aboard the Viking Stariper. We had a decent amount of big fish for about an hour. After that we culled thru a lot of little fish. At the end of the trip everyone ended up with about a bucket of fish. The pool winner was Tina Nichols from Brooklyn, NY with a 3lb porgy. 1/2 Day Fluke Captain Dave reports a fun fluke trip. We had a bunch of keepers up to 4lbs. A couple dozen porgies and blue fish. The pool winner was Steve Gayda from Merrick, NY with a 4lb fluke.

Wednesday June 1

Montauk Jumbo Spring Porgies Captain Dave reports a good day of porgy fishing today. It started out tough with a difficult tide, but once the tide changed, it was a bail job! We had a mixed size of porgies, we also had some blues and 1 striped bass. Today’s pool winner was Shkelzen Morina of Richmond Hill with a nice 3.5lb porgy. New Bedford Porgies Steven Jr reports they had a good day today from beginning to end! We had a steady pick that resulted in full coolers of porgies and everyone with or close to their seabass limit! Nicky N. from Brooklyn took the pool with a 3.2 lb porgy.

Mon May 30

New Bedford Porgies Captain Steven Jr reports a good day of fishing today aboard the Viking Star. We had mixed size fish coming up all morning. On the way home, we made our last drop of the day and everyone had a nice shot of sea bass. Montauk Jumbo Spring Porgies Captain Dave reports a lot of action on the first drop with mixed size fish. The second drop was a “Bail Job” of BIG FISH. We also had some blue fish, weak fish, and sea bass – released unharmed. The pool winner was Benjamin Hercules from Uniondale, NY with a 3 1/2 lb porgy.

Sun May 29

1/2 Day Fluke-AM Captain Carl reports excellent fishing with a lot of keepers. Every group went home with fish. The first place pool winner was Glenn Schwitter from New Milford, CT with a 6.2lb fluke. The second place pool winner was Kamal Chata from Jackson Heights, NY with a 5.7lb fluke. 1/2 Day Fluke-PM Captain Carl reports another excellent afternoon of fishing. Several locals climbed out of their caves from winter hibernation. Some of the highlights included Freddie “Motor” Shay catching 7 keeper fluke (ORL) up to 6.5lbs. Bill Swill needed a tutorial on how to use his rod, and after that somehow managed to catch a keeper fluke. Montauk Jumbo Spring Porgies Captain Dave reports an excellent day of porgy fishing today! The bite was on with mixed size fish up to 3.5lbs. Everyone had their limit and we also had a mix of blues and some sea bass, which were all released unharmed. New Bedford Porgies Captain Anthony reports that fishing was good and everyone had their fill of jumbo sea bass and scup. We also had some nice fluke and black fish brought on board. The first place pool winner was Jess Lao-Ang from Niantic, Ct with a 4lb scup. The second place winner was Henry Johnson from New Jersey with a 5lb sea bass. New Bedford Porgies and Sea Bass Captain Anthony reports a good day of fishing aboard the Viking Star. Everyone had their fair share of porgies and sea bass. There were also some nice black fish in the mix as well. The pool winner was Tonia Thompson from Bridgeton, NJ with a 4lb porgy.

Far & Deep Exploring New Grounds – May 18th to May 22 Captain Steven Sr. reports the Far & Deep Trip was outstanding. We went FAR! and DEEP! Weather, fishing and our explorers were great! Day 1 – Full coolers of tile, big pollack, hake in the first four hours. We then took a little ride looking around and we had a mid-day pick, but by 4pm it was on again with big tiles, barrel’s, hake, and northern grouper with double headers and even a triple header on 2 hooks! We had full coolers again by dark. Day 2 – Exploring for LG tile was slow the first half of the day, but by 11am tiles of all sizes started coming over the rail. For three hours it was good – good. New Bedford, MA Porgies and Sea Bass-AM Captain Anthony reports fair to good fishing with jumbo scup and sea bass all around. The first place pool winner was Denitta Dawkins from Boston, MA with a 4lb porgy. The second place pool winner was Paul Sauer from Boston, MA with a 5lb sea bass. Montauk Spring Porgies Captain Dave reports that after a bit of a slow start the fishing got very good. We ended up with a load of porgies, some weak fish, and we returned about 20 nice sized sea bass unharmed! The pool winner was Tony Yin from Douglaston, NY with a 3 1/2 lb porgy. New Bedford Porgies Captain Anthony reports a bit of a slow day today. It was a tough go, but we still managed some fish. Today’s pool winner was Isaiah Corbin of NYC with a 3lb porgy. We will be sailing tomorrow at 5am and in the afternoon at 1pm- tomorrow is the first day for Sea Bass so make sure you get there early to get your tickets!
