Capt Steven Jr reports another great trip last week on a 3 day charter. We had a nice load of quality Yellowfin, 5 Big eyes, a fat Sword, a load of Mahi and a handful of Tiles and some other bottom dwellers. The Big Eyes were from 150 lbs up to 193 lbs and the Sword weighed in just shy of 170 lbs. Over all another great trip with an awesome group that took home a load of meat.

3 Day TNT – 8/7 to 8/9 Capt Steven Jr reports that we put together a good trip with good bottom fishing and a little slower on the Tuna fishing. As far as the pelagic we had a tough time getting the Yellows to cooperate, but we managed a couple Yellows, a nice Big Eye around 150lbs and a couple of Swordfish. Tile fishing was good with action everywhere we went with Tiles up to 34 lbs. We also had Barrel fish up to 26lbs, some Pollock, Hake, Blueline Tile, Rosie’s and a Wreckfish. Everyone went home with a nice variety of fish. We recently added some Tuna trips for September and October!! Capt Steven Jr reports another epic offshore trip on the Viking Fivestar!! Our 3 day trip was drastically shortened, we only needed 12 hours of fishing to fill the boat up with 14 Big Eyes and 32 Yellow Fin!!! An absolutely epic trip for a great group of guys. Capt Steven Jr just called in on the Sat phone from the Viking Fivestar and said that in the first 4 hours of the trip they are on RIGHT NOW has 21 Yellowfin Tuna and 4 Big Eye Tuna in the boat already!!!! Capt Steven Jr reports that our first trip off to the deep was a productive one with the bottom fish, but slow on the Tuna fishing. Both days of bottom fishing we had steady action with Tiles, Pollock, Hake, Barrelfish, Cusk and a few Blue Line Tile. We spent both mornings and one evening on the troll and were only able to turn up 3 Yellows and a couple Marlin bites. At the end of the trip everyone went home with a nice load of deep water fillets and some Tuna. We are looking forward to get back out there at the end of next week. Unfortunately, we will not be sailing on the overnight GOM Haddock/Pollack/Red Fish trip due to lack of interest and weather. Captain and crew are disappointed because this would have really been a great trip with fishing as excellent as it has been. We will look into rescheduling another trip up there after April 15th when the Haddock season opens back up. This Saturdays local weather looks good, and we are trying to sail on both the Viking Fivestar and Viking Star for Block Island Cod! Both trips have plenty of room and we need a few more people on each to get out there. We have plenty of fresh clams and shells! Capt Steven Sr reports our annual Xmas Nantucket Wreck fishing trip was as good as it could possibly get on the Viking Starship. From the first drop to the last every angler was kept busy. The first drop was insane with everyone pulling aboard multiple market-sized Cod, each one 26-28 inch or larger. The second and third drops saw a nice mix of Sea Bass and Pollock. The fourth drop we found “humpbacks”- Jumbo Sea Bass- many exceeding 5 pounds. A very competitive pool in every category! First place in the Cod pool went to Martin Wellen Dowd from Yorkville, Manhattan with a 12 pound Cod. First place in the Sea Bass pool went to Roman Stolyarchuk of Morristown, NJ with a 6 pound jumbo. Edible pool winner was Michael Bunch from Flanders, NY with a 10 pound Pollock.
