Wed Feb 26 – Schedule Update
Unfortunately, we will not be sailing on the overnight GOM Haddock/Pollack/Red Fish trip due to lack of interest and weather. Captain and crew are disappointed because this would have really been a great trip with fishing as excellent as it has been. We will look into rescheduling another trip up there after April 15th when the Haddock season opens back up.
This Saturdays local weather looks good, and we are trying to sail on both the Viking Fivestar and Viking Star for Block Island Cod! Both trips have plenty of room and we need a few more people on each to get out there. We have plenty of fresh clams and shells! We will continue to sail for Cod on Saturday and Sunday thru March at 3AM on the Viking Star.
We are also ADDING a NANTUCKET WRECK TRIP departing Friday, March 20 at 8PM and returning Sunday March 22 at 1AM. The fare is $350 and is limited to 40 passengers. This trip will be on the 140 ft Viking Starship and will have a full galley. Last years trip in March yielded some excellent results, as shown in last years report here…
Fri March 29, 2019 – Sun March 31, 2019
Capt Carl was happy to report a very good Nantucket Wreck Trip! We had a sold out boat with mostly regular Viking fishermen, as well as some new faces, all eager to finally get out fishing after a long winter. The weather was absolutely perfect and the fishing was very very good with lots of keeper Cods, quite a few Pollock, giant Cunners, and even a Wolffish (that was of course released)! It was a fun and productive day with plenty of full coolers and after it was all done, the boys cut fish for 4 1/2 hours on the way home while the fishermen ate a delicious pot roast and scalloped potato dinner by chef Mavros. A good time was had by all and everyone had fat bags of fillets to go home with!
Marius Chmieleuski from Lindenhurst, NY took first in the Cod pool with an 18 pounder, and Alejandro Mercado from Yonkers, NY took second with a 17 pounder. Walter Lesniewski of Lindenhurst, NY took the edible pool with a 15 pound Pollock. Sorry we didn’t get more pics, but the crew was very busy gaffing fish, icing down coolers, and doing everything else to help out the anglers.
