Block Island Cod and Sea Bass Capt Stephen Denaro reports and excellent day of fishing on the Viking Star. The day started strong with good drifting conditions, catching 5-10 cod per drift. When that slowed down we went exploring. We checked a couple spots with each one producing cod and sea bass. The last spot we went to was lock and load, with our best drift yielding fish up to 18lbs. Unfortunately, the gentlemen who caught the 18lber was not in the pool. All and all we had an awesome day of fishing with well over 100 cod on the boat. Today’s pool winner for cod was Keith Lamastro of Rockville Center, NY with a 15.8lb cod. The first place sea bass pool winner was Frank Marro of Oakdale with a 4.2lb sea bass. Block Island Cod/Sea Bass – Viking Fivestar Capt Steven Jr reports another good day of cod fishing with most guys getting their limit and the guys who didn’t were not far from it. There were a lot of quality fish again today with a bunch in the mid to upper teens. The Sea Bass on the other hand have moved out for the winter. We made a couple deeper drops looking for them but only found a couple. It’s all about the cod from here on out! Looking forward to getting back out there next week after Christmas! 30-50 Mile Wreck Trip – Viking Fivestar Capt Steven Jr reports that we got them again today!! Limit of quality cod and seabass!! Started off cod fishing and loaded up by mid morning!! From there we shot offshore and grabbed what we needed in seabass in one drop! Cod fishing is holding together pretty good for us, but we are seeing a decrease of seabass inshore and we will be strictly cod fishing starting in January. Sorry no pictures today. 30-50 Mile Wreck-Viking Fivestar Capt Steven Jr reports another great day of cod fishing!! Everyone loaded up with nice fat healthy cod for Christmas! We had great fishing all morning with the cod and after everyone had their fill we went looking for some sea bass and found a handful of them to round out the day, but it was nothing like we have been seeing.The cod are moving in and the sea bass are moving out.There were plenty of cod to go around.The high hook team today was the Rennar sisters from Montauk who had 27 cod (Orl) and a dozen seabass! Block Island Cod and Sea Bass – Viking Fivestar Capt Steven Jr reports another slammer day!! We had a full limit of quality cod by 9 am. Lock and load action on the cod and we filled everything up in a hurry. After we loaded everyone up with cod we ran offshore and got everyone limited out on sea bass! Nobody left today with out a load of fish! Sailing every day until Christmas Eve! Call the office and get in on it now while they are chewing!!! 30-50 Mile Wreck Trip-Viking Fivestar Ho Ho Holy Cod! Capt Steven Jr reports that Christmas came early for the guys on the boat today with full limits of quality cod and sea bass!! We had great action all day and everyone went home loaded up with fish!! Most of the cod were healthy quality sized fish and the sea bass were all jumbos up to 6.2lbs! Things are looking very promising for winter cod and we will be sailing every day the weather lets us!

Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass Capt Dave reports a slower day of porgies. Everyone had a couple of porgies and a handful of sea bass. We had 40 to 50 cod onboard up to 15 lbs. The pool winner was Local Joey Bloecker with a 2 1/2 lb porgy. We are cancelled tomorrow Thur Dec 15th due to weather.

Block Island Cod/Sea Bass-Viking Fivestar Capt Steven Jr reports another good day of fishing today around Block. Things started out slow with a big left over ground swell, turning things up, but by the end of the day we put a nice catch together. Everyone had a load of nice sea bass and we picked at the cod thru the day. We sent everyone home with plenty of fillets!! We had very few porgies today, but we had our limit of sea bass in the 4 to 5 lb range and everyone had a couple of cod. The pool winner was Hung Lee from Brooklyn, NY with a 3.1 lb porgy.

Block Island Cod and Sea Bass-Viking Fivestar Capt Steven Jr reports another good day of fishing at Block. There were not as many cod as last trip, but we still put a good pile together. We made a couple cod drops to start and found a pick everywhere we went. Then we got off deeper to look for some sea bass and everyone got what they needed in a couple of drops. The weather is going to keep us at the dock again tomorrow. Tuesday looks like our next chance to get back out. Give the office a call to get on the couple of trips we have room left on! Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies and Knothead Sea Bass Capt Dave reports a tough day of fishing on the Viking Starship. The poor weather conditions made for a slow pick of porgies and sea bass; about 30 keeper cod were caught. Today’s first place pool winner was Mario Kakol of New York City with a 2.5lb porgy. The second place pool winner was Cindy Chan of Queens, NY with a 15lb cod.
