Viking Fleet Fishing Reports

Thurs Nov 10 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports another excellent day of fishing on the Viking Superstar. There were nice big Porgies and Sea Bass everywhere we tried.  We had a nice shot of fish on each drop, with the big crowd we had to move around a bit, but we cleaned up on each drop. There were also some Cod, Bluefish and Mackerel in the mix. The first place pool winner was Patrick Waft from Brooklyn, NY with a 3 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Joran Foster from Allentown, PA with an 8 lb Cod. We are definitely sailing tomorrow. The Viking Superstar has availability on Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass and the Viking Star has room on the Blackfish and SeaBass trip. If you are a Veteran or Active Military let us know and we will give you…

Wed Nov 9 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a good day on the Viking Superstar. We started out up close to the island due to the weather and mostly had Sea Bass in the shallow water. It was a mix of big and smalls with everyone retaining a handful of decent size Sea Bass. When the weather calmed down we were able to head offshore and found some Large Jumbo Porgies and good size Sea Bass in the deep with one over 5 lbs. There were also a couple of Cod. The pool winner was Noel Henson from Jones Beach, Long Island with a 3 lb Porgy. We are definitely sailing tomorrow on two trips. 5AM – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass on the Viking Superstar and 5AM – Coxes Ledge Cod & Sea Bass on the Viking Star. Mon Nov 7 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports pretty good fishing today on the Viking Superstar. We had a nice mixed selection on the boat with some serious quality to them. We had plenty of Porgies today lots of large and jumbo sizes going up to 4 1/2lbs. SeaBass fishing picked up again, we were back on the bite with some nice sizes, all mostly large. We did even up with about a half a dozen Cod fish on the boat today too. The first place pool winner went to Carlos Castillo from the Bronx with a 4.2 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner went to Liv Artemchuk from Conneticut with beautiful 10 lb Cod fish. Tomorrow’s 5 am Block Island Porgies and SeaBass is cancelled due to weather (Tuesday, November 8th).

Sun Nov 6 – Blackfish & Sea Bass

Capt JR reports good fishing today on the Viking Star. We ventured a little farther from home this morning looking for a fresh batch of knot head SeaBass. We did find some decent fishing and got our boat limit but had to put in a little extra time. We headed inshore and found the same Black fish bite from the day prior. They were there, but picky. Got keepers all around the boat with a few guys getting there limit to probably around 7 lbs. There is some cooler weather coming the next couple days and that should still things up a bit and get the black fish biting a little better for this coming week. The Blackfish pool winner went to Tom Kelly from Bayshore, NY with a 6.8 lb fish.

Sun Nov 5 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports decent fishing today on the Viking Superstar. The Porgies were biting today which made it more difficult to get our pick of the SeaBass. Nevertheless, everyone managed to have a few nice sized SeaBass, along with some beautiful Porgies. We also had a handful of Cod on the boat today. The first…

Sat Nov 5 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a good day on the Viking Superstar. Porgy fishing has greatly improved every day this week with everyone pretty much retaining their limit. After the first drop of mostly Porgies we looked around for a better mix with more Sea Bass which worked out great. On the last drop in the deepest spot we had 15 keeper Cod mixed with Porgies, Sea Bass and Mackerel. The first place pool winner was Cornell Armstrong from Teneck, NJ with a 3 1/2 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Richard Bonilla from Bayshore, NY with an 8 1/2 lb Cod.

Sat Nov 5 – Blackfish & Sea Bass

Capt JR reports a good day on the Viking Star. We started out this morning steaming off to the Sea Bass grounds. We found lots and lots of big jumbo Sea Bass. We easily boated a limit and also found a good sprinkling of COD to top off the baskets. The Blackfish weren’t chewing the…

Fri Nov 4 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports good fishing today on the Viking Superstar. Porgy fishing was much better today than it has been. The fish were biting and they seemed to be moving in bigger piles.  SeaBass fishing was good today, the Porgy bite made it a little more difficult to pick through, but once we made our…

Thurs Nov 3 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports very good fishing on the Viking Superstar. It was a nice mix of Porgies, Sea Bass and Cod. The Porgy fishing greatly improved from yesterday. The pool winner was Vinny Jarrett from Bronx, NY with a 2 3/4 lb Porgy. We are sailing tomorrow at 5am. The office will open at 4am for ticket sales.

Thurs Nov 3 – Coxes Ledge Cod & Sea Bass

Capt JR reports that our first trip to Coxes Ledge was absolutely a slammer!! We started out fishing some of the traditional Sea Bass grounds in the area and found piles of giant Sea Bass! Jigs, bait, bare hooks, absolutely everything had jumbo knot head sea bass climbing all over the boat. We stuck to…
