Fri Nov 6 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a decent day on the Viking Starship. We had a good shot early with a mix of Porgies and SeaBass up close to the island to about 100 feet out. There were plenty of fish in the shallows and we drifted until it got too fast. We then went out to the deep and anchored up. We had a handful of Cod and some nice sized SeaBass. The dogfish were not much of a bother today. The first place pool winner was Michael Bolton with a 2.5 lb Porgy. Franklin Tejada won the edible pool with a 10 lb Cod. All trips are sold out this weekend! Please give us a call 631-668-5700 or book online at vikingfleet.com to get on these popular trips!!

The SeaBass pool winner was Stuart Caruso from Williamsport, NY with a 3 1/2 lber.

Thurs Nov 5 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a pretty good day on the Viking Starship. It was solid SeaBass to start, making it tough to get to the Porgies. Fortunately there were very few dogfish today. We pulled it out on the last drop with a steady pick of medium to large Porgies with pretty much everyone getting their limit. There were also a handful of Cod. Not a lot, but good sized from 10 to 20 lbs. There was a tie for the pool between Delroy Carter from Amityville, Long Island and Mark Wright from Mt. Vernon, NY with 2.5 lb Porgies.

Wed Nov 4- Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a pretty good day despite numerous dogfish who would not leave us alone during the first few hours of the trip.  We had to work a little harder as the water was still a little muddy after the storm but we stuck at it and by day’s everyone had their Porgy limit. The Sea bass bit very very well and all anglers landed their limit. We also had  Cod came up on almost every drop, the largest weighing in at around 20lb. Overall a great day and Capt. Dave predicts it will get even better over the next few days as the weather improves. Donald Hyde of Bronx NY won today’s Porgy pool with a 2lb Porgy. Jasper James caught a beautiful 20 lber to take the Cod pool . We are sailing daily at 5am. Check…

Wed Nov 4 – 30 to 50 Mile Wreck Trip

Capt Steven Jr reports a good day fishing the wrecks on the Viking Fivestar. We had slower fishing then last week, but still got what we needed to send everyone home with a load of fish. We had some Cod on every drop with the biggest weighing in at 18 lbs. We again had the quality sized Seabass and a load of Ling.

Sun Nov 1- Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a good day on the Viking Starship. We anchored up today in the deep water and had plenty of Porgies and Sea Bass. Not seeing many Jumbos though. We had to move a few times because the dogfish were harassing our anglers. We had at least a dozen keeper Cod and the rain held off until we were headed back to Montauk. First place in the pool went to Harvey Scott of Brooklyn, NY with a 2.7 pound Porgy. Edible pool went to Abel Ventura of Brentwood, NY with a 12 pound Cod. This trip is CANCELLED for tomorrow.

Capt Dave reports a good day of fishing on the Viking Starship. We started in the shallow water up close to Block Island and picked away at Porgies and SeaBass. There were also about a dozen Cod up to 15 pounds. The first place pool winner was Barry Cameron from Brooklyn, NY with a 2.5 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Barry Wauchope from Babylon, NY with a 12 lb Cod.

Thurs Oct 29 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a tough day of fishing on the Viking Starship. It was quieter than we have been seeing in the shallow water by Block Island. Resulting in a slow pick of mostly Porgies. It was better offshore, but still a slow pick of nice size SeaBass and a handful of Porgies. The dogfish were there again, but it was manageable. The pool winner was John Pratt from the Bronx with a 2 1/2 lb Porgy. The Block Island Porgy & Seabass trip is CANCELLED for tomorrow, Friday Oct 30th.
