Viking Fleet Fishing Reports

Sat Aug 1 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt Dave G reports a very good morning of fishing aboard the Viking Star. We had plenty of Porgies, plenty of Sea Bass, some keeper Fluke, including some real beauties, and even a Bluefish. Just a beautiful morning on the water. The first pool winner was Linas Smoriginas from East Quague, NY, with an 8 lb Fluke. The second place pool winner was Natale Mineo from Brooklyn, NY, with a 6.25 lb Fluke.

Sat Aug 1- Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a stupendous day of Porgy fishing. We went down the beach to get out of the tide, where we got a very good pick of medium to large Porgies. We spent a lot of time at the Lighthouse. While at the Lighthouse we caught a mix of Porgies, Seabass and Bluefish. The pool winner was Carlos Pedras from Union City, NJ, with a 3lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Ariel Cand from Jersey City, NJ, with a 3.2 lb Seabass.

Fri July 31 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Report to follow. Pool winner was Keith Cadden from Bayville, NY with a 6.15 lb Fluke.

Fri July 31 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a great day of fishing on the Viking Starship. It started off slow but ended with tons of beautiful fish. Early in the morning we went out of the tide and drifted around the lighthouse where we caught some beautiful size Porgies, a couple of Fluke, and Seabass as well. When we finished our drifts over there we went Seabassing, it started off a bit slow, but ended with tons of Porgies and Seabass. The pool winner was Alberto Aponte from Brooklyn , NY, with a 3lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Felipe Piehando with a 4.4 lb Seabass.

Fri July 31 – 1/2 Day Charter PM – Viking Fivestar

Capt Derek reports an excellent afternoon of bottom fishing. We started off Porgy fishing which was phenomenal. We caught enough in 20 minutes so we moved onto the SeaBass. We took a little ride to deeper water on the south side and we weren’t disappointed. We had to pick through smaller SeaBass to find keepers, but it was nonstop action and we ended up with almost the boat limit. All in all, it was a very good afternoon.

Fri July 31 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt Dave G reports a good morning of fishing in stormy conditions aboard the Viking Star. Despite the weather we had a nice catch of Porgies and a few Fluke. We finished the trip with some nice sized Sea Bass. The pool winner was Laura Pugliese with a 2 lb Fluke.

Fri July 31 – 1/2 Day Charter AM – Viking Fivestar

Capt Derek reports that the morning was slower than it has been, but still had good action. We started off by the lighthouse and had some nice Porgies.We took a bit of a ride in search of  some SeaBass and managed a nice handful. Overall we ended up with a nice pile of big Porgies and some SeaBass.

Thurs July 30 – 1/2 Day Charter – Viking Fivestar

Capt Derek reports that bottom fishing continues to be excellent with plenty of large scup and decent seabass mixed in. We went and tried some Striped Bass fishing for a little which wasn’t too hot, so we continued bottom fishing. The group ended the day with a nice big pile of Porgies and some decent SeaBass mixed in.

Thurs July 30 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt Dave G reports a very good afternoon of fishing aboard the Viking Star. We had jumbo Porgies, jumbo Sea Bass and keeper Fluke. A very nice trip on a nice afternoon. Pool winners to follow.

Thurs July 30 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt Dave G reports a good morning of fishing aboard the Viking Star. The rods were bending from the beginning of the trip until the end. We ended up with a load of nice size Porgies along with some Sea Bass and Fluke. The pool first place pool winner was Liam Nasle with a 4 lb Fluke from New York. The edible pool winner was Sam Sheppard from New York with a 4.5 lb Sea Bass.

Thurs July 30 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a very good morning of fishing on the Viking Starlite. We had amazing Porgy fishing out by the lighthouse. We spent the early morning there until everyone got their limit. We then went a little offshore for SeaBass. We caught beautiful SeaBass as well as some large to jumbo sized Porgies. It was another great trip. The pool winner was Dr. Greg Triaufillou from Spring Field, PA, with a 3.25 lb Porgy.

Wed July 29- 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt Chris reports another great trip with lots of action. Porgies, Seabass and Fluke filling the buckets. We are starting to see a few more keeper fluke then there has been. The first place pool winner was Noah Felice with an 5lb Fluke. The second place pool winner was Scott Uyban with a 3 lb Fluke.
