Fri Sept 20 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM
Capt Dave G reports a good morning of fishing aboard the Viking Star in breezy conditions. The fish were biting for the entire trip. We ended up with a nice catch of Sea Bass, Porgies and a few Bluefish. There was no pool for the trip.
Thurs Sept 19 – 36 Hour Tuna – Viking Fivestar
Sat 9/14 to Sun 9/15 Capt Steven Jr reports a tough go at it last weekend on our 36 Hour Charter. We fished close to home and managed 4 nice Yellowfin around 60-70lbs on our first day, but the night bite was non existent. The next morning we trolled for a couple hours but didn’t turn anything else up. Hoping the night bite improves this week.
Thurs Sept 19 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass
Capt Dave reports a good day on the Viking Starship. We had good drifting conditions close to Block Island with big Porgies and SeaBass. When the tide turned the fish got smaller so we went exploring to the south. We found a really good pick of Porgies and a lot of SeaBass. The first place pool winner was Jose Rodriguez from Flushing, Queens, NY with a 2.8 lb Scup. The edible pool winner was Quenton McGlashane from Uniondale, NY with a 4.2 lb SeaBass.

Mon Sept 16 – Thurs Sept 19 Capt Jerry reports another FINE offshore adventure that started off great, but the weather took a turn for the worse on Wednesday forcing us to head in a bit early. We caught a couple of Yellowfin right away the first morning as we were getting ready for bottom fishing. Bottom fishing was very good, with plenty of Golden Tiles, some Barrelfish, and plenty of other deep bottom dwellers including Hake, Cusk, cod, Pollock and more! We had plenty of meat on the boat as we started looking for a place to anchor up for the night. Right before dark, we trolled up another big Yellowfin and set the anchor there for the night. Wed Sept 17 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass
Capt Dave reports fine fishing on the Viking Starship. We had windy and rough conditions, so we anchored up close to Block Island in the calm water. We tried three spots and found plenty of Porgies. SeaBass were a slow pick today since we were not able to drift and we couldn’t get offshore. The first place pool winner was Ifa Gordon from the Bronx, NY with a 2.7 lb Scup. The edible pool winner was Milton Nelson from Long Island, NY with a 3.2 lb SeaBass.
Tue Sept 17 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass
Capt Dave reports a good day on the Viking Starship. We started out anchored close to Block Island and had an excellent pick of Porgies with SeaBass mixed in. We then went offshore for a deep drop and only had a handfull of SeaBass, but there were a couple of Pollock. To finish the trip we moved inshore and had a nice steady pick of Large Porgies and Jumbo SeaBass. We did not have a pool with the small crowd.
Mon Sept 16 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies and Knothead Sea Bass
Captain Dave reports another excellent day fishing on the Viking Starship. Today we got to a spot that consistently had the rods bending with nice size Porgies and quality Sea Bass. The crew and anglers liked this spot so much we didn’t move until we sailed back to Montauk. First place in the pool went to Danny Hsu of East Meadow, Long Island, N.Y. with a 3.2 pound Scup. Second place in the pool went to “Tonyfish” of Brooklyn, N.Y. with a 3.7 pound Sea Bass. photos to follow…………………
Sun Sept 15- 1/2 Day Fishing PM
Capt Dave G reports a very good afternoon of fishing aboard the Viking Star. The fish bit from the first drop of the trip until the last. We ended up with a load of jumbo Porgies and some nice Sea Bass. The pool winner this afternoon was Robert Caffiero with a 5 pound Triggerfish.
Sun Sept 15 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies and Knothead Sea Bass
Captain Dave M reports an excellent day of fishing on the Viking Starship. We started out drifting close to Block Island and had an excellent mix of large and Jumbo Porgies. Later we tried an off-shore drift where the Porgies were smaller, medium to large with some smaller Sea Bass than we’ve been catching lately. Anglers brought in some exotics as well. We had some smaller Albacore, a few Mackerel and a few Tuna. All our anglers went home with stuffed coolers and big smiles. There was a three way tie for 1st place in the pool Mauricio Castro, Danny Situ and Fax Hylton all bringing in 2.65 pound Scups. Second place in the pool went to Hamilton Creton with a 27 pound Tuna!

Capt Dave G reports a good afternoon of fishing aboard the Viking Star. We had a mixed bag of Seabass porgies and Fluke. The first pool winner was Angleo Demetroulakos from Brooklyn NY, with a 4 lb Fluke. The second pool winner was John French with a 3 lb Seabass.
