Viking Fleet Fishing Reports

Wed Aug 10 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt JR reports that fishing on the Viking Star was a little picky this morning. When the tide changed and conditions got favorable, we found some nice Sea Bass, Porgies, and some stud Fluke! Today’s first place pool winner was ten year old Regan Bossert of Wading River, NY who caught a 6 lb Fluke….

Tue Aug 9 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt JR reports a tough trip on the Viking Star. This afternoon brought even more wind. We stuck it out and picked some Sea Bass and Porgies with a few Fluke. Tomorrow, the wind will stop. See you then! The first place pool winner was Andrea Luna from Massapequa Park, NY with a 3.5 lb Sea Bass. The edible pool winner was Katie O’Brien from Massapequa Park, NY with a 2 lb Porgy.

Sun Aug 7 – Whale Watching

Well, we found them again bottlenose dolphins, humpback whales, sea turtle, and hammerhead shark It was a bouncy ride for our first hours, but we enjoyed being away from the heat and being out on the ocean looking for wildlife. Tue Aug 9 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt JR reports we had some very windy conditions again this morning on the Viking Star. However, despite this we toughed it out and caught some keeper Fluke, nice Porgies, and some knot head Sea Bass to make the trip. The pool winner was Pete Papadopoulos from Lancaster, PA with a 3.2 lb Fluke.

Sun Aug 7 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass

Capt Dave reports a good day on the Viking Starship. We had excellent Porgy fishing at the lighthouse despite the tough wind conditions. The wind made it tough to get offshore for SeaBass, so we anchored up close by. The bite was great and there was a lot of action, but there were mostly shorts. We did have some keepers. The pool winner was Marvin Kelsyn from the Bronx with a 2 1/2 lb Porgy. The trip is cancelled tomorrow due to weather.

Sat Aug 6 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt JR reports a good pick of Sea Bass and Porgies all morning. Action all around the boat. Anglers also landed some nice keeper Fluke. The first place pool winner was Yan Gonzales with a 5 lb Fluke. The second place pool winner was Gillivar Shepard from Brooklyn. NY with a 3.2 lb Fluke.  

Fri Aug 5 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt Mike reports a good afternoon on the Viking Star. The steady fishing got better late. We had nice Sea Bass and Porgy fishing with a few Fluke over 4 lbs. The pool winner was Matt & Max Meyer from Westfield, NJ with a 6 lb Fluke.
