Viking Fleet Fishing Reports

Montauk

Mon May 27 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt Mike reports a tougher afternoon of fishing today on the Viking Star. The wind came up a bit and made for some unfavorable weather conditions which made it a little bit difficult to fish. Despite poor weather we still managed to boat a couple nice sized keeper Fluke. Our next 1/2 day fishing trips are on schedule for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (May 31st, June 1st and 2nd) from 8am-12pm and 1pm-5pm.

Mon May 27 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt Mike reports a slower morning of fishing on the Viking Star. The bite wasn’t very hot, but we managed to land a couple nice keeper Fluke. We did see a good amount of SeaBass today, that we had to throw back because it is out of season. The pool winner this morning went to…

Mon May 27 – Montauk Spring Porgies

Capt Dave reports an absolute bail job today on the Viking Starlite. This was by far the best day of the season with double header Porgies flying over the rails. A whole new school of fish seemed to move in and they are BITING, they definitely seemed to be on the larger size with mostly…

Trip Update: 3 Day Tile/Cod/Fluke LTD

Capt Steven Sr just called in from the infamous Nantucket Shoals and reports that the Fluke are biting! Here are a few pictures from today. They are on their way home from the weekends Tile/Cod/Fluke trip and a full report to follow, but we wanted to let you know that we have plenty of room…

Sun May 26 – Sunset Jigging for Striped Bass & Blues

Capt Carl reports a productive night on the jigging grounds. It started off slow while we waited for the tide to get going the back half of the trip was fine with mixed size Striped Bass, some of which made the slot limit, and a Bluefish also. There was no pool with the light crowd,…

Sun May 26 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt Mike reports a decent afternoon of fishing today on the Viking Star. We had some really good action on a couple of drifts with 3-4 keeper Fluke with the light crowd. We saw a lot of short Fluke again and some small Porgies, plenty of fish to keep lines bent. We did not do…

Sun May 26 – Montauk Spring Porgies

Capt Dave reports a much better day of fishing today aboard the Viking Starlite. It was a one shot kind of day. We made our first and only drop of the day, which stayed active and constant the whole time so we stayed there and picked away at mixed sizes Porgies, from small to large. …

Sun May 26 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt Mike reports an action filled morning on the Viking Star. We had a decent shot this morning with some nice sized keeper Fluke early. As the day carried on the bite stayed consistent, but the size dropped, pulling up mostly short Fluke that we had to throw back. But overall it was a good…

Sat May 25 – Night Squid Jigging

Capt Carl reports a frustrating night on the squid grounds. Our first couple drops were duds, but our last drop we had thousands of squid all around the boat attacking a giant ball of bait attracted to our bright lights, but we could not get them to bite our jigs. High hook only had 10. He was using a small light weight Yozuri jig on the surface. It was a very finicky and frustrating bite… maybe it was the moon? We know where they are, and we want to give it another shot next Saturday night, June 1. Sailing at 8PM. IMG_6947(1)

Sat May 25 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt Mike reports slow fishing this afternoon on the Viking Star. We did manage several short Fluke and some nice SeaBass which are unfortunately out of season. No pool this afternoon with the light crowd. We will be heading out tomorrow for both 1/2 Day trips at 8am & 1pm. Check out our new “Merch”…
