Viking Fleet Fishing Reports

Montauk

Wed Dec 4 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a good day on the Viking Starship. We started off inside of the island. It was straight Sea Bass of mixed size, everything from small to large. We made a move and found more Sea Bass. Then we moved a bit more to the east and found the Porgies there. There were mixed size double header Porgies with all BIG Sea Bass! We also had a handful of Cod and some Mackerel. No pool today. All trips are cancelled tomorrow, Thursday, December 5th due to the very windy conditions expected.

Tues Dec 3 – Coxes Ledge Cod & Sea Bass

Captain JR reports a fair day of fishing onboard the Viking Star. We had to do a little looking around as we haven’t been out to the ledge in about a week, but it wasn’t half bad. We easily got a very nice limit of nice knot head sea bass and also a good showing…

Mon Dec 2 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a very good day of fishing today on the Viking Starship. Today was an all around mixed pick at just about every drop we saw equal amounts of both Porgies and SeaBass both on the larger side. We also had Blue fish, Mackerell, and Green Bonita on the boat as well today….

Sat Nov 30 – Night Squid Fishing

Captain Carl reports that the weatherman got it wrong last night. The wind was blowing hard from the NW, making very uncomfortable and unpleasant conditions. Yes, we did still catch some squid, but we had to call the trip early and give everyone credit towards future fishing trips. Tonight has the same weather forecast up, so we will not be sailing. There are still millions of Squid out here in Montauk, and we will sail again on the next good weather night. We will post our next trip as soon as we know!

Sat Nov 30 – Block Island Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports an okay day on the Viking Starship despite the weather. We had tough wind conditions and the bite was off. It was hard to feel them biting, but what we did catch was very good size. We also had about a dozen Cod up to 12 lbs. The first place pool winner was Benny Basurto from Staten Island with a 2 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Miguel Atens with a 12 lb Cod. We are not sailing tomorrow due to the wind conditions expected. We will be back at it Monday at 5AM and the weather forecast looks beautiful!

Fri Nov 29 – Squid Fishing

Capt Joe reports a consistent squid pick last night. A lot of bigger sized tubes coming up with a good showing of mackerel making their way into the buckets. The tough weather made it difficult for some anglers to stick it out at the rail but those who did were rewarded with sea krakens. We…

Tue Nov 26 – Coxes Ledge Cod & Sea Bass

Capt JR reports a good day of fishing on the mighty Viking Star. The weather was a little crappy but we found plenty of big Sea Bass waiting for us at Coxes Ledge. Everyone had no problem getting their limit of knot heads and we also had a few very healthy Cod in the mix. Definitely not a bad day of catching. We are sailing tomorrow departing at 5AM for Blackfish & Sea Bass on the Viking Star, Porgies & Sea Bass on the Viking Starship.
