3 Day Tuna And Tile Ultra Ltd Trip
Capt. Carl reports a decent trip considering the weather conditions. We picked up one albacore on the troll as we headed to the bottom fishing area. Bottom fishing was OK… We had some tiles, quite a few barrelfish, some northern groupers, and some hake. We were picking away just fine until the wind started coming on too strong, so, we got back on the troll and got another albacore before dark. The first night was slow and rough! We had one mako jump the hook off, and another pup mako released. The next day we battles some strong winds and heavy seas until the afternoon when we picked up some mahi mahi and had a good shot of nice albacore before dark. Once again we anchored up for the night and had swordfish bites all night, landing two nice ones, one around 90 lbs and the other around 150! Then, just before sunrise we had another good shot of albacore all caught on jigs. As we started to make our way home, we picked up a couple more albacore and one nice yellowfin. All in all we ended up putting a decent catch together, as everyone onboard went home with some tuna and some bottom dwellers! Alex Lowe did well, winning the tilefish pool with a 25 pounder, AND winning the tuna pool with a 60 lb yellowfin. Sal Dimeglio won the edible pool with his beautiful 150lb swordfish!
Block Island Porgies and Sea Bass
Captain Dave reports a good day of fishing. It was a nice day on the water with a nice mix of porgies and larger sea bass. We also had some blues in the mix. Overall it was a good day of fishing in Block Island.
