Sat July 8 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports an unbelievably good trip on the Viking Starship. Porgy fishing was excellent this morning at the lighthouse with one long drift for three hours straight. Once we got what we needed we headed east towards Block Island and drifted for Sea Bass. We got some nice ones with a bunch of smalls mixed in. There were also Porgies in the mix. We had to fight off some dogs, but they weren’t too bad. There were also a few Bluefish today. The first place pool winner was Noel Miranda from Roosevelt, NY with a 3.1 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Angelo from Queens, NY with an 8 lb Bluefish.
