Mon July 17– Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports a tougher day of fishing today on the Viking Starship. The bite was definitely off from the weather yesterday, the combination of dirty water from the rain and the large ground swell made for difficult fishing. We had a lot of little fish in the mix, with a lot of throwbacks. Everyone still had a decent catch of Porgies, a couple SeaBass, and there were a few Blue fish on the boat, but nothing great in size. The first place pool winner went to Bishop LaBarrie McCoy from Brooklyn, NY with a 3lb Porgy, and a we would like to wish him a very happy birthday as well. The edible pool winner today went to Wilfredo Munoz from Manhattan, NY with a 6 lb Blue fish. We are sailing again tomorrow (Tuesday, July 17th) on our 5am Montauk Lighthouse Porgies and SeaBass.
