Sat July 16 – New Moon Striped Bass

Capt J.R. reports lots of action aboard the Viking Star for the new moon Striped bass trip. However, most of the action was from big angry blue fish bending rods all around the boat. It was a lot of fun for the whole night. We did manage to boat a couple Striped bass to keep…

Sat July 15 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt Mike reports a good trip on the Viking Star. The afternoon started off hot with big Sea Bass and keeper Fluke and some Porgies in the buckets. Things slowed down for the tide change, but it picked back up late with more keeper Fluke and Sea Bass. The pool winner was Tommy Falciano from Moriches, NY with a 4 lb Fluke.

Sat July 15 – Full Day Block Island Fluke & Sea Bass

Capt JR reports a very good day on the Viking Starlite. We found some very productive Fluke fishing in the waters off of Block Island with some anglers retaining their limit. It was a good pick of quality fish all day. Some fish in the 5-6lb range were common. In addition to the much improved Fluke harvesting we easily caught a limit of big beautiful Sea Bass to top off the buckets. The first place pool winner was Mike Williams from Newark, DE with an 8 1/2 lb Fluke. The second place pool winner was Rick Stanton from Newark, NJ with a 3 1/2 lb Sea Bass. We have added another trip for Sunday, July 23. You can book online at vikingfleet.com or give us a call at 631-668-5700.

Sat July 15 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports excellent fishing on the Viking Starship. It was fast, hot and heavy Porgy fishing to start out with mixed sizes and some Sea Bass mixed in. We hit an offshore wreck for Sea Bass where we found a handful along with some Porgies. On the way back in we stopped at the lighthouse and had a really good pick of Large and Jumbo Porgies that made the day. The first place pool winner was Hugo Mendez from Freeport, NY with a 3 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Pedro Mendez with an 11 lb Bluefish.

Sat July 15 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt Mike reports a good morning on the Viking Star. It was steady Seabass and Porgy fishing. We had a lot of short Fluke. There were nice conditions on the water today. The pool winner was Kenny Haug from Goshen, NY with a 3.8 lb Sea Bass.

Fri July 14 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a lively day of fishing today on the Viking Star. Conditions were not fishable around the point so we started our morning off down the beach in calm spot out of the tide. We had good action around there with medium to jumbo sized Porgies coming over the rail. We worked our way offshore to get into some SeaBass and it did not disappoint. Fishing was as good as it gets with a multitude of different fish between Porgies, SeaBass, Mackerell, and some Trigger fish. We saw all kinds of sizes from throwbacks to some nice sized keepers. The pool winner today went to Susan from Queens with a 2.7 lb Porgy. We are almost sold-out on tomorrow’s ( Saturday, July 15th) 5 am Montauk Porgies and SeaBass, so make sure call or book online to secure…

Fri July 14 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt Mike reports an okay morning of fishing on the Viking Starship. We started the morning off with less than ideal conditions in the rain. We saw lots of action on the boat today, but had a tough time battling the Sea Robin bite with not many keepers in the mix, seeing predominantly Porgies and Fluke. We had a lively crowd aboard the boat today and everyone seemed to have fun. The pool winner this morning went to Gavin Viglucci from Carmel, New York with a 2 lb Porgy.

Mon Jul 10- Fri Jul 14- Private Charter 3-Day Deep Water Adventure

Captain JR Gibson and Captain Carl report an EXCELLENT 3 Day Deep Water Adventure led by Mark Kaminski who put together the 15th Annual Charter to the Deep on the Viking Starship. We were also joined by special guest Captain Paul Forsberg Jr who spent most of his early years tile fishing commercially in the…

Wed July 9 – Whale Watching

What a day at sea! We always begin each cruise by reminding passengers that we are sailing into the natural environment and have no idea what we will see or when. This trip was definitely a testament to that! We traded in the heat and haze of land for cool, ocean breezes traveling approximately 14 miles offshore in search of cetaceans. Visibility improved tremendously and conditions were highly favorable for spotting life at the surface. Despite this, no marine mammals were seen for the first two hours, but things were getting interesting. We passed through numerous debris ‘fields’, likely outwash from the Connecticut River stemming from the heavy rains that pounded New England earlier in the week. Then the water got very warm as we entered a warm-core eddy spinning off the Gulf Stream. Then came the flying fish, and…

Thur July 13- 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt Dave reports decent action this afternoon on the Viking Starlite. We saw a lot of fish coming up around the boat this afternoon, but unfortunately most of them were on the small side, with more throwbacks than anything. We did manage to find 3-4 keeper Fluke and some nice sized SeaBass fishing just south…
