Mon July 8 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports another excellent day of fishing today on the Viking Star. We started our morning off around the lighthouse having a nice long drift for just over an hour where we picked away at some really nice Porgies. We had fish of all sizes, double-headers up to some of the largest Porgies we’ve seen in a while with a few Bluefish mixed in. We did a another short drift following, before we ventured off to the east trying to target some SeaBass. We moved around a bit, having fish at every drop. we never really got into a pile of SeaBass, just had to pick through the Porgies. However, like yesterday the few fish everyone had were of some really nice size. The first prize pool winner went to Garry Gumbs from Conyers, GA with a Jumbo Porgy at 3.8 lbs. The edible pool winner today went to Victor Garcia from New Jersey with a 14 lb Bluefish! We are sailing again tomorrow on the Viking STAR at 5am for our Montauk Jumbo Porgies and SeaBass, our ticket office will be open at 4am for sales.
