Fri July 26– Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports another stupendous day of fishing on the Viking Starship. Porgy fishing today was absolutely excellent, we started our morning off with a couple anchor drops down the beach and the Porgies were definitely biting! We picked away for a good while on large and jumbo sized fish and when the tide eased up we worked our way back towards the point for a drift and then just east of the point and had some more large Porgies. We eventually made our way offshore closer to Block Island and had some really good SeaBass fishing. Today was one of our better days of SeaBass fishing if not the best day we’ve had this season, with most anglers getting their limit. The first prize pool winner went to Dolton Smith from Brooklyn, NY with a 2.8 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner went to Kevroy Jones from Brooklyn, NY with a 4.8 lb SeaBass! We will be sailing tomorrow (Saturday, July 24th) on our 5am Montauk Lighthouse Porgies and Seabass.
