Sun Aug 18 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports a very good day of fishing today on the Viking Starship. This morning started off not so good, as we started off around the lighthouse and coudlnt really grt on any fish, the ground swell seemed to be messing up the bite. We did work our way a good distance offshore to get out of the swell and it payed off. We got into a really good mixed bag pick of large Porgies and SeaBass. We really saw some nice large fish, better than we’ve seen in a while, with some true jumbo Porgies. The first prize pool winner went to Gregorio Capistrain from Lakehurst, NJ with a 3.2 lb Porgy. We are sailing again tomorrow on the 5am Montauk Lighthouse Porgies and SeaBass.
