Sat Sept 14 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports excellent fishing today on the Viking Starship. With the tide running this morning we decided to start our day offshore towards the east. We got on a very nice first drifted that last over 2 hours with non-stop Porgy and SeaBass action, between medium and large size fish. Fishing conditions were great for the first drift and we were able to keep on the bite for the whole drift. We made another drift in a similar area and had some action, but the tide started to come on here and didn’t make for as stellar conditions, however we did see a lot of Mackerell and some short Fluke. The SeaBass action definitely had much improvement today from what we’ve been seeing recently. The Porgy pool winner went to Bernando R. from the Bronx, NY with a 2.3 lb Porgy. The SeaBass pool winner went to Candy Chan from Brooklyn, NY with a 3.2 lb SeaBass. We are definitely sailing again tomorrow at 5am, make sure to book online at the Vikingfleet.com to utilize our online discount, our check-in office will be open at 4am.
