Mon Sep 30 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a good day of fishing today on the Viking Star. We made our first drop out in the really deep water and had some really great action with some big sized Porgies and SeaBass, some of the bigger fish we’ve seen a while. We worked this drop until the dogs moved in and we had to move into the some shallower water. After getting into 70-80 feet of water we got onto a decent pick of mixed sized Porgies and SeaBass, with a lot more keeper SeaBass than throwbacks. We also had about a half a dozen keeper Fluke as well as a lot of Mackerell in the mix. Both pools went top Lloyd Stewart from Brooklyn, NY with a 2 1/2 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Cesar from Shirley, NY with a 4 lb Fluke. We are sailing again tomorrow on the Viking Star for our Block Island Porgies and SeaBass, the ticket office will be open at 4am for check-in.
