Mon Oct 7– Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports a good day of fishing today on the Viking Star despite some uncomfortable weather conditions. We did most of our day closer to the island tucked away out of the wind, but still had some more difficult conditions with the ground swell. We saw a huge improvement on the SeaBass bite today with a lot more keepers than we’ve had in a long time. They really seemed to bite their heads off today, with most the fish coming up around the boat being SeaBass. We did have our pick of some medium to large Porgies, but not a whole lot. We also did have one nice keeper Cod on the boat today too, and some Mackerell. The pool winner today went to Everton Devonish from Brooklyn, NY with a 2 1/2 lb Porgy. We are NOT sailing tomorrow (Tuesday, October 8th) but will be sailing again on Wednesday at 5am.
