Sun Oct 13 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass
Capt Dave reports a very good day of fishing today on the Viking Star. Block Island Porgy fishing was certainly back today, we got in close to the island first thing this morning and dropped anchor for almost 3 hours. We picked away at some really nice medium and large sized porgies pretty much non-stop for those few hours. We did make a move offshore and do a couple drifts and got onto some nice sized keeper SeaBass out in the deeper water, there was still some throwback mixed in, but this was a big improvement from what we’ve been seeing. We finished off our day back in close on the anchor to get everyone’s limit of Porgies and fishing was just as good. The first prize pool winner went to Nery Rodas with a 2 3/4 lb Porgy. The edible pool went to Rich Siewart from Sayreville, NJ with a 3.8 lb SeaBass. We are definitely sailing tomorrow again, Captain Dave is hoping to see this to be the start of a a good shot of Block Island Porgy and SeaBass fishing. Our ticket office will be open for chek-in at 4am.
