Sun Nov 3 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a tough day of fishing today on the Viking Starship. This mornings conditions were rough with strong wind and high seas making it tough to fish in some of our usual spots. Despite the poor conditions we did still struggle with the pick today with dogfish plaguing many of the drops. As the day carried on we got onto a steadier pick when the wind dropped out a bit and we saw some action with medium sized Porgies and a few nice SeaBass. We did venture a bit east of the island today and had another shot of medium Porgies, a couple Cod, and some nicer SeaBass, but nothing that exciting. The first prize pool winner went to Tommy Liu from Staten Island, NY with a 3 lb Porgy. The edible pool today went to Anxiang Wu from Brooklyn, NY with a 7 lb Cod fish. We will be sailing again tomorrow at 5am for our Block Island Porgies and SeaBass, the weather is looking better tomorrow and we are looking forward to getting back out.
