Mon Sept 2- 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt Mike reports a very nice morning of fishing on the Viking Starlite. The trip started off with a steady Porgy and Sea bass bite. We saw a lot of Porgies in the jumbo size. We did manage a couple keeper Fluke this morning, although their seemed to be more short Fluke than keepers today….

Sun Sept 1 – Full Day Block Island Fluke & Sea Bass

Capt JR reports a very good day of catching onboard the Viking Starlite. We had spectacular sea bass fishing with a plethora of giant knot head bass everywhere we went. The fluking was also much improved as we found some very nice specimens to keep the nets busy. All happy anglers today! The pool winner…

Sun Sept 1- 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt Mike reports a lot of action this morning on the Viking Star. With a large capacity of kids aboard, we saw plenty of children catching fish! We had a nice Fluke bite early with about a half dozen in the bucket right off the bat. As the trip continued we found a steady pick…

Sun Sept 1 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Sat Aug 31- 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt Mike reports another good afternoon of fishing on the Viking Star. We started the afternoon off with a couple nice drifts with big Sea bass and Porgies.   Things slowed mid trip as the tide slaked off but it did begin to pick up again towards the end as we finished off with some…

Sat Aug 31 – Full Day Block Island Fluke & Sea Bass

Captain JR reports a good day on the Viking Starlite. It would have been an awesome day, but the sea bass fishing was so good it hindered our fluke hunt. Excellent and nonstop sea bass fishing EVERYWHERE. The bait wasn’t on the hooks long enough to give the fluke a chance to bite. But couldn’t…

Sat Aug 31 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports an excellent day of fishing today on the Viking Starship. Conditions weren’t the best with the strong New Moon tide ripping, but fishing was just fine. We started our morning down the beach Porgy fishing and has some good action with mixed sized fish. As the tide started coming in heavy we ventured offshore and had a nice mix of medium- large Porgies and SeaBass. SeaBass was better than it’s been with more quality to the size. We did find some Trigger fish, about half a dozen keeper Fluke, and some Mackerell out in the deeper water. To finish off our trip we ended back at the lighthouse for about an hour and a half and got onto some larger sized Porgies. The first prize pool winner went to Santos Constanza from Hillsboro, Maryland with a 2.6…

Sat Aug 31- 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt Mike reports a very good morning of fishing on the Viking Star. Fishing started off hot from the get-go with a mixed bag of jumbo Porgies, Sea bass, and several keeper Fluke in the buckets. As the trip carried on we lost the tide and the short Sea bass took over catching plenty of…

FRI Aug 30- Whale Watching- Star

For the last trip of August, the whales (and waves) had us working a bit harder than usual, reminding us of the changing seasons and the fortunes previously bestowed upon us throughout this summer. We headed south towards the general area where the humpbacks have previously been encountered, but there were no whales to be found. We did enjoy views of Cory’s and Great shearwaters, and of Wilson storm petrels flying and hunting while we searched. Winds made spotting of blows difficult so we didn’t find the whales until we were much closer to them than usual (less than half a mile) but that was when we realized that not only did we find them, there were 8-10 to be found! These were all humpbacks, at first moving quickly in all directions around and beyond the vessel. Capt. JR expertly…

Fri Aug 30- 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt Mike reports more difficulty this afternoon on the Viking Starlite. The wind continued to be an issue although fishing was steady. Anglers still managed a good pick of fish and filled their buckets with a mixed bag of Sea bass, Porgies and some nice keeper Fluke. The first prize pool winner went Mel Sobel from Brooklyn, NY with a 3.8 lb SeaBass. The second prize pool winner went to James Watkins from Syosset, NY with a 3.2 lb SeaBass.
