Sun July 21 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt Mike reports a very nice SeaBass bite this afternoon on the Viking Star!  We had a lot of keeper SeaBass in the buckets with a good amount of Porgies thrown in. There wasn’t too much Fluke action this afternoon, but we had some shorts.  Luckily this morning’s beautiful weather carried into the afternoon and…

Sun July 21 – Full Day Block Island Jumbo Fluke & Sea Bass

Capt JR reports a very good day on the Viking Starlite. The sea bass fishing was MUCH improved with all anglers catching a limit of beautiful Knothead SeaBass. Fluking was pretty much the same as it has been with some nice flatties mixed in with the SeaBass. This was about the same turnout at every…

Sun July 21 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a lively day of fishing on the Viking Starship. The tide threw us off a bit today, making us move around more than we would like, but we definitely had our fish today. We started off the morning off the lighthouse and had a good two drifts there with mixed sized Porgies,…

Sun July 21 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt Mike reports nice porgy and sea bass bite this morning on the Viking Star. We had a steady pick the entire trip, but had the best shot of keeper fish at the end of the trip with the tide change making for a lot of fish in the buckets and a lot of fillets…

Sat July 20 – Full Moon Striped Bass

Capt. Carl reports a very quiet night on the Full Moon Striped Bass trip on the Viking Starship. We worked over a lot of local spots… some well known and some of our secret ones, but did not find anything to work on. It was a beautiful night and we thank our passengers for being patient and understanding. The pool winner last night was William Marshall from Shelter Island, NY.

Sat July 20 – 1/2 Day Fishing PM

Capt Mike reports a tougher afternoon today on the Viking Star. We had difficult conditions this afternoon as the wind picked up and fishing slowed down. We did manage a few keeper Fluke and SeaBass, but not as much action this afternoon. The pool winner went to Rob McGowan from East Meadow, NY  with a 3.5 lb Fluke.

Sat July 20 – Full Day Block Island Jumbo Fluke & Sea Bass

Capt. JR reports a decent day of Block Island angling aboard the Viking Starlite. The sea bass fishing was definitely good but the size of the fish required a heavy sort to get to the keepers. However, we definitely had an easy boat limit. Fluke fishing was also slightly off, but at the end of…

Sat July 20 – Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead Sea Bass

Capt Dave reports a very good day of fishing today on the Viking Starship! We decided to start our morning off our morning out of the tide, fishing to the east and had some decent action, but mostly small SeaBass with a few keepers in the mix, as well as some smaller Porgies. After the tide switched we worked our way back towards the lighthouse and anchored up for the rest of our trip where most our anglers found their limit on Porgies. we had a lot of large Porgies today with some jumbos mixed in, but pretty much all the fish around here were on the large side.  The first prize pool winner went to Mickel Modoo from Brooklyn, NY with a 2.6 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner went to Guillmo Atterson from NJ with a 4 lb…

Sat July 20 – 1/2 Day Fishing AM

Capt Mike reports lots of rods bending all morning on the Viking Star. We started the day off with a very nice keeper fluke in the first minute! As the trip carried on we had excellent Porgy and SeaBass action. Overall, it was a great morning with a lot of fish and a lot of…

Fri July 19 – Whale Watching

What an amazing experience for the passengers aboard the Viking Star yesterday! We headed off to find the many whales encountered on Wednesday’s trip, but were happily interrupted by three separate pods of Tamanend’s bottlenose dolphins while en route. Blows from humpback whales were spotted ahead as a minke whale and large pod of short-beaked…
