Back to Viking Fleet Fishing Reports

Tue Sept 30 – Block Island Fall Jumbo Porgies and Knothead Seabass

Capt Dave reports good fishing on the Viking Starship. It was a good start inside close to Block Island. There were big Porgies and some Sea Bass. We got one long drift in, once we started the second drift the tide got going, so we headed south of the island. Sea Bass bit very well everywhere we went. We tried a bunch of spots and only one had Porgies. There were mackerel everywhere that were a bit of a nuisance. Also caught today were Bluefish and Triggerfish. It was quite an experience out there today with whales, dolphins and sharks being spotted. The first place pool winner was Juan W. from Bronx, NY with a 3.3 lb Porgy. The edible pool winner was Gala H. from Brooklyn, NY with a 6 lb Bluefish. There was a big ground swell on from the hurricanes moving our way. Tomorrow’s trip is cancelled with the big seas and high winds expected.
