Capt Steven Sr reports a better afternoon on the Viking Star. The fishing shaped up and we had action the whole trip. We had Fluke, SeaBass and Porgies. It was a mix of keepers and shorts. Everyone went home with a bag full of fillets. The first place pool winner was Matt Masters from Commack, NY with a 4.25 lb Fluke. The edible pool winner was Daniel Gibb from Northport, NY with a 3 lb Bluefish.

No better way to beat the heat than with a whale watch! Comfortable breezes at sea were joined by dozens of small pods of short-beaked common dolphins throughout the voyage (200-250 total), including several mother/calf pairs and juveniles. Capt Dave reports a great day of fishing today on the Viking Starship. Porgy fishing was just about as good as it gets. We had very good fishing today around the Lighthouse, there was a mix of more medium sized Porgies, but the bite was on. After filling up on Porgies we set out SeaBass fishing and it was excellent. Everyone seemed to have their limit of SeaBass and the size was much better than its been. There were plenty of Mackerell on the boat today and even a couple keeper Fluke. Our first place pool winner went to Mr. Parks with a 3lb Porgy. We are sailing tomorrow (Saturday July 23rd) and spaces are limited, don’t forget to make your reservations!

Capt Dave reports very good fishing today on the Viking Starship. This mornings Porgy bite was hot, started off around the Lighthouse and made two drifts and easily had our limit in no time. after filling up in Porgies we made made our way east in search of the SeaBass. The SeaBass bite today was a little off, as we picked through many small SeaBass, but everyone managed to get a couple keeper SeaBass. Overall, a good day of fishing. The first place pool winner went to Benny from Queens with a 3 lb Porgy. We will not be sailing tomorrow (Thursday July 20th) for the 5AM Montauk Lighthouse Jumbo Porgies & Knothead SeaBass.
